I suspect I may regret this, but I’m in for 2022. I don’t acquire models like I used to, but somehow they still accumulate… as if anyone could have just “300” unpainted models… lol.

Perhaps I can keep it at or below -1.

So do partially painted models count as completed models if they are finally finished? Or am I just counting models started and finished in a given year? I ask because I probably have 40 or 50 models WIP, but only 20-70% complete. I would probably start with them as the focus to give an initial boost to finishing something.

My opinion, anything up through and including priming is unquestionably still in the grey pile. So if you paint and count them there’s no asterisk on your conscience. Beyond that, maybe there’s a grey area.

If you still have a reasonable amount of brushwork effort left on the models I think it’s fair to count them in your favor. After all you put in work to finish a previously unfinished model.

Ultimately that’s going to end up being a personal opinion / honors system thing. We certainly don’t want to demotivate anyone from completing models that are underway.

If someone had 40 infantry models just needing pupils… that’s a kinda meh tactic.

Please count them. The goal is to get us all painting (more) regularly, to keep our spending-habits in check a little and to end up with more painted models than unpainted ones.

There’s a massive grey area in my garage. And in my shed. And in my loft…

2022 is gonna be the year to conquer it :fire::fire::fire:

In your shed there is an Italian area as well if I remember correctly

Agreed, everything I would count still has hours of work left. If I’m at the just pupils point they’re already counted as done.

@Jasko, yeah, I think moving models from limbo to the completely done pile counts, and provides much needed motivation.

I think I’m going to try to do a general count of what I have unpainted as well. Loosely by category. A model by model tally would take far too long. And perhaps make some headway on my getting rid of stack as well.

You are going to love your zhanta… IF IT EVER ARRIVES…

I personally decided not to count any wip models to batg, except for 29 lizardmen cold one riders, where only the base colors on the cold ones are done. I have a unit of clanrats, that I’ll finish after cdoffline that wont count for batg as they are almost finished already.

If I had more units like the old ones I’d count them for sure.

I will be counting minis that had priming or assembly work this year, especially minis that I bought primed, of which there’s quite a few. So some of the stuff in the background of my WIPs (like those goblin archers) are gonna appear in January, cos I won’t start painting them properly til the new year.

Even primed, they’re physically grey, which helps on a spiritual level.

This is cool stuff as I have a large 30k army only primed (for a long time now.) Well, come to think of it, I have a lot of everything sitting in primed limbo land. I think the end of the year project will be to clean the game room up and catalogue the gray. It will be fun and embarrassing at the same time.
