Preorder Party 🥳

Well ladies and gents

It’s been a very, very, very long journey to get here but finally the day has arrived!

:partying_face::partying_face:

A massive day for us as hobbyists

Probably 17 years for me (yes I know we had LoA along the way, but still).

Countdown is on here!! My wife even created an account to put in a pre-order for me for Xmas! I warned her that she’ll have to be on the ball. She’s an old hat at this kind of thing… no with miniatures preorders but with designer shoes. She knows to pre-login so that she’s not fussing with billing or address stuff before completing the order :hatoff: Haha

best of luck securing a set folks!!

I went for a discount store, so I guess I’ll get it when I get it.

But I don’t mind I’ve waited 17 years haha

Haha, so true. I think I joined Hand of Hashut in 2006. I know I started CDO early in 2007, so I think you’ve waited closer to 19 years, Grim!

:sweat_smile:

We did it! :saluting_face::saluting_face::saluting_face:

I missed out on ordering it through GW, but managed to get one through a local retailer. It’s not arriving untill around the 29th though :annoyed:
IDK when other people are getting theirs, but I suppose I got some time to figure out my color scheme!

It’s been 11 years for me since I played with my makeshift Legion of Azgorh army in 8th Ed. I was a student at the time, and barely had any Forge World minis due to their price (most of my stuff was mantic). I’m FINALLY gonna have a proper Chorf army!
Excited to see so many veterans buying stuff, for TOW or AoS!
Best of luck to any that are still scouting for a box.

Nice! Which way are you leaning, AoS or TOW?

I do hope everyone manages to get a copy.

Congrats to all on lasting the long wait, the one thing I quite liked about the mixed reactions to the new stuff is the thought that the creativity that’s been the trademark of this army over the years of going nowhere

Gosh… Hand of Hashut! I was there in 2005… 20 years! Let’s keep it going!

I also had to order the box from a discounter and happy to get it whenever it comes. I know I won’t get to it for a good while, but stoked to be part of this new wave.

20 year achievement. :saluting_face:

That’s awesome! I wonder who else from Hand of Hashut is still around.

I think some changed their names when they moved over. I was always just Cornixt. The even older remember the Yahoo Groups mailing list.

Oh man, we need a full history of Hand of Hashut and this Yahoo Group mailing list!

The Yahoo Groups originally started as something called egroups mailing lists in late 2000, but it was taken over by Yahoo a few months later. I joined in 2001 and there were about 10-20 members.
It was basically an email-based system where you would receive emails from all members from the list and respond to them. Threads were organized by the email titles. Pretty much the same kinds of discussions as on here, but fewer pictures because it was mostly text based. You could upload files to a special file site and they could be shared among list members, but the size limit was very small (<500KB).

The groups died out in 2004 when the spam was getting out of hand and it was going to get closed down. Tim Colonna had set up Hand of Hashut about a year or so before, so almost everyone who hadn’t already gone had moved over there. That was a proper forum, much easier to use and with dedicated galleries. That was also around the time that the GW forums were all closed, so it probably picked up people from that too.

Love that!

I remember the old GW forums. They were stuck a funny embedded mess of text.

Still remember posting fan rules for an All Troll army which included Lava Trolls. :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Not to mention some info recovery for some of that old content (images, rules, etc). Lots of it, like so many old forums, has been lost to time. The Wayback Machine has some content downloaded over time, but it’s a crap-shoot with what’s there and what’s missing. I see lots of familiar names over there, although some haven’t been on CDO in a while either now
:cry:

Holy moly! Apparently I joined HoH in April 2005. 2 decades. That’s how long I’ve been waiting. :melting_face:

Yes we do see a lot of “Xander” over there !
It’s really funny, I remember scanning through the 5th ed rulebook, finding the chaos dwarf very cool and wondering if other people out there shared this opinion. Of course by then, I wouldn’t have known since I didn’t speak english.

Great piece of history !
