[TOW] Let's get competitive

Halberds are for charging vs certain enemies. They have ap-2 on the charge, and as I’m strapped for pts they do end up costing 20 pts less than a great weapon. If I had 20 free pts I’d use GW - which I’ve decided to use on the regular infernal guard instead of the blunderbusses i think, the blunders are fine but not worth 5 pts unfortunately.

So the ironsworn are anti infantry and the guards are anti monster (with the no stomp banner)

Do they get AP-2 on the charge? Fireglaives aren’t actually Halberds, so they didn’t get updated, unless Renegades updated them?

Renegades did not upgrade them as far as I know.

Edit I just checked, apparently we are due a version 2.0 of Renegades around new year, but at the moment it is still the 1.5.

Cant wait to see the new rules for the 2.0

Two hand weapon with a boss with a magic weapon

How has everyone been finding the new Tome of Spellcraft?

I’ve been dropping the Mantle of Stone from my prophet for this and the consistency of Storm of Ash is amazing!

Also, I’ve yet to play with a Castellan as General. How are these tooled up?

Best I can come up with is Enchanted Shield, Mantle of Stone and Meteor Hammer.

Keen to how these have been run successfully.

Any thoughts on the new FAQ?

As long as you were not facing Cathay (or suffered under a Blender Duke), not much has changed. Or were playing Slayer Hosts maybe.

Well my bro welf player can now field 60pts more with the faq (wooptidoo)

I kit my Castellan with a GW, ToP and MoS, if your ToP is used somewhere else an enchantment shield is a great idea or even the armour of destiny

I think the meteor hammer is best used on someone with low base strength, S7 (with GW) is going to hit most things on 2’s and 3’s regardless and it saves you 40+ points

I really like that! Ty.
I honestly have no idea why I never thought of the 4+ ward and a great weapon.

I agree with the Meteor Hammer feeling skew iff. It was the AP-3 I was mostly interested in. I have actually been running the Black Hammer, which does feel quite good. But your idea gives me a more defensive alternative, which I think I like too.

Infernal Castellan [388 pts]

  • Hand weapon
  • Full plate armour
  • General
  • Bale Taurus
  • Black Hammer of Hashut
  • Enchanted Shield
  • Mantle of Stone

No worries at all man!

I haven’t ever tried the black hammer, the D3 multi wounds is enticing, wish it was AP2 hahah

That looks like a pretty well kitted dude! Definitely going to kick some ass

What is the Castellan on Taurus’ most effective build?

T9 vs T8 and 5+ ward are only real choices? Also Great weapon vs dark forged weapon?

There’s a bunch of different options, I don’t know if T8 or T9 are necessary unless your local meta is full of cannons, T7 does just fine for me

ToP or Armour of Destiny and a mantle of stone with GW works great,

Cackling blade or black hammer with mantle and charmed or enchanted shield

Could even fit Demonic Familiar in there if you’re going to try and hunt their tooled up guys

I will play 7 cannon list for sure

Cacling Blade?

Hahah then you are right to get extra toughness

Yea one of the new magic weapons everyone gets +1S, -1AP and D6 extra attacks

Now I wonder ( I will play 6 cannons + steam tank for sure with 20+ outriders) if I need hellbound on my Iron daemons too.

I want to fly my blunderbusses and shoot/CC. I also think I will enjoy Tau’uruk so I will take one as well.

Khan - I could replace him with hellbound and spend extra 30 points on 1-2 mode blunderbusses?

Is there a better banner than Razer one for blunderbusses?

One more thing… Maby second castellan would be a good choice?!

Oh wow that sounds like a strong list your going to be vsing, I was vsing one similar but only 3 cannons - if you have any forests in/near your deployment I put all the import things behind that and then fly straight into the cannons so you only have to deal with one round of them, I did have 2 Cast and 2 Tau’urk + steam tank, the steam tank died from the cannons but then I destroyed his cannons and because of T7 he couldn’t really hurt me with out riders

I like the idea of flying blunderbusses right infront of him :joy: you will have to tell me how it goes, I think that is probably the best banner for damage or if you think the outriders will shoot at them you could do the Ashen banner for -1, a bit more defensive

Hellbound could be good your right for the 6+ ward, it might be a 1/6 chance but it’s better than no chance!

Cannons are not hills, they do not stop cannon balls… All I have to do is to win initiative lol

I am not sure if 2 hellbound upgrades are worth a Khan with ruby ring.
