[Archive] The 2007 CDO Community Awards! - Nominate Now

Xander:

First, what can I say? We have had a fantastic first year! I want to personally thank each and everyone of you for signing up for these forums. Thank you for taking a little time out to share what you have been able to make so that you too might inspire others! It is has been my pleasure to bring this site into existence and I also want to thank my excellent Staff members who help make this place great. We have exceed 30,000 posts and nearly 650 members, all in the space of a year.

Secondly, I have managed to get the Wiki back up and running, which is very exciting! Some images are having a bit of trouble, but if you click on the thumbnails you can see them. To fix the black thumbnails, you can download the full image, and re-upload it to replace the old one, that will regenerate the thumbnail image! I have done a couple of these already.

Thirdly, Warvault has recently redone their system. It’s the same system now that Warhammer Toplist uses. That means you can stop by, click on Stats and rate us 5! You can also leave a written review. So take a visit to both of these ranking sites and vote, if you haven’t already.

Now to the meat of the thread: We are going to award some medals to the community. These medals recognize outstanding achievement for the year of 2007 with respect to the Chaos Dwarf community. There will be 5 medals awarded, and you are requested to nominate one person and their achievement for each category.

The categories are:

Best Attitude - A member should be nominated on their forum presence and behaviour towards other members, displaying exemplary attitudes of kindness and encouragement.

Best General - This member is always ready to give advice on army lists, has very good lists of his own, and perhaps has won a tournament or two using his Chaos Dwarf army.

Best Hobbyist - A nominee for this award has contributed an amazing model, or models that exemplifies what a Chaos Dwarf army should look like: flawless execution of conversion and painting while adhering to the Chaos Dwarf mythos.

Best Contributor - This award will go the member that has contributed most to the cause of the Chaos Dwarfs. He or she has done or made something that has profoundly benefited the presence of Chaos Dwarfs as a whole!

Best Overall Member - This member may not be the best hobbyist, might not ever win a tournament, but he or she has a great presence on the site, the forum, the wiki, the chat and whatever else! They are dedicated to the cause of the Chaos Dwarfs!

Nominations should be phrased like this:

Award Name - Member Name - The contribution that should be recognized.

Examples:
Best Attitude - CheeseMan - For his/her excellent contributions to the forum games!
Best General - LordOfLava - for her/his excellent 2250 point list that isn’t too beardy. (Hyper Link, if applicable)
Best Hobbyist - Rupert - For the most excellently crafted Bull Centaurs I have ever seen. (Hyper Link, if applicable)
Best Contributor - TempleTower - For his excellent guide to converting Sneaky Gits. (Hyper Link, if applicable)
Best Overall Member - Dwarf of Evil - The most positive, active, creative, driven, exciting person on the forums, when they speak, I want to listen!

PM your nominations to our new member called Staff, which every staff member has access to. The Nominations will be tallied, and the top 3 members for each category will become official nominees. The 15 Nominees’ names will then be prepared in a poll for all to vote on beginning March 15th.

An important note! The Staff CAN be nominated, HOWEVER, they must not be nominated for their staff-related duties. For example, Cornixt could be nominated for his excellent Wiki work, but not for being excellent at moderating the forums. This way we are all on fair ground. We are dealing with what we offer the forum as members, not as staffers.

If you have any questions, just ask! Send your nominations in as soon as you can!

Cheers, :cheers
-Xander

P.S. The Podcast where you can hear both HB and I discuss the Awards can be found here. So if you are unclear about what to do, we explain it verbally here. For any other questions, just reply below!

Pyro Stick:

This should be interesting. I honestly couldnt think of a Best Overall Member.

Xander:

You could almost think of it as the Most Well Rounded Member, too, I suppose.

Maybe they don’t do any one thing the best, but they try hard in everything, and do a pretty darn good job of it.

Willmark:

Nominations sent. Good luck to all who make it to the nominations. For those who don’t all the more reason to try harder (self included).

In regards to the rest big ups to all on the forum. It bit rocky as of late but back on all cylinders now. Hats off to all.

Xander:

I want to see nominations sent in from everybody! Please send them!

Xander:

I find it odd that you would call it a popularity contest. Best Overall Member, perhaps, but let’s think about this. What makes a user popular? I should like to think it is one’s contributions that make a user popular. Their insight and imagination.

Awards are designed to reward the hard working and the creative. To give recognition to those who help us grow. I see no reason to relegate such acknowledgments to childish high school-like sentiments.

EDIT: Hey guys, I checked the stats, 81 Members Were Online Today! … But only 4 sent in nominations!! Let’s see some more!

furrie:

I’m not long enough in the communiti to give a good vote

Xander:

That’s possible.

Many people lurk for a long time prior to signing up, and if that is the case, you still might know the contributions of several members.

furrie:

I just discorved this site like 3 days ago :stuck_out_tongue:

Traitor King:

Been a bit in active as of late but still good to see this happening.

I shan’t be nominating, as im a little behind the times…

Hashut’s Blessing:

I have been having much trouble deciding upon whom to vote for in all categories. Mayhaps, I shall be enlightened soon…

Ishkur Cinderhat:

Xander I am not sure if I can nominate a best general as I am not much in the tactics related forums and won’t see the difference between good and bad tactics anyway ^^ and I also find it hard to nominate a best overall member - as there are quite a few people I’d name for this one.

Is it possible to nominate for some of the categories and some not? Plz?

Willmark:

(Xander feel free to chime in) there is nothing that says you HAVE to put foward a nomination in any category as far as I can see.

Xander:

Traitor King, just go by what you know from the time you were here!

And if you really really really can’t think of a nomination for a certain category, you can refrain from nominating someone. But please leave that as a last resort.

Hashut’s Blessing:

So, rules are: If possible nominate someone for each category. Everyone is included.

Pyro Stick:

Is it possible to nominate for some of the categories and some not? Plz? :)

Ishkur Cinderhat
I sent in my nominations for all but the Best Overall Member already. Im going to wait a while and see who i notice as being the best, now that i know i should be looking for someone, before i send in my last nomination.

Kera foehunter:

I voted for the site and pick my the best of this site!!!

Xander:

We have now recieved 7 sets of nominations! I know we can do better than this! Put your thinking cap on and pat some of your fellow CDO members on the back!

Theory_Man:

Can we get a slave if we nominate people? I think more people will nominate if you offer them a slave.

Just a thought.

Xander:

Hehe, funny you should mention that. I was thinking about that very idea on my way home from work.

How’s this for a deal: Each person who sends in their nominations will get an amount of slaves equal to the total number of people who send in nominations. So right now we are at 7. If we get 15 people to send in nominations, they each get 15. I think you get the idea.
