Any good bits to replace the new Helsmith heads?

I’m thinking about picking up the new Helsmith of Hashut from GW. I do like the models, though I wish they had a more grimdark feel. The problem is I really can’t stand the heads/goofy hats… so much that I don’t think I could bring myself to paint or play them unless I find some alternatives. Does anyone know of good alternative helmets/masks/heads I could buy or 3D print? I’ve looked around online but haven’t really found anything that grabbed me.

So, I’m not aware of any bespoke head-pack or so. I guess we have to wait until the models are released for those, since we don’t know the sprue layout and model size at this point. I’m sure there will be something once that happens.

There are some digital kitbashes which are looking promising.

For basic prints the following might help, or marauder/ chaos warrior helmets if kit bashing

Having 3D sculpted head packs could be really useful, that’s for sure. I might even take a crack at that myself. :flexed_biceps:

I think the problem at the moment is we don’t know exactly how the heads are attached

They seem to be going with a healthy mix of male and female heads, which implies they are completely separated (including beards on the males).

Which makes things a lot easier. But also ironically is probably why the beards are a bit short.

Xander did a good Photoshop with sons of Horus heads.

Finding “grimdark hats” is probably half down to the paint job rather than just the design.

In my limited searches there are hat heads that could be painted grimdark but they are attached to the body.

Yeah, there’s definitely going to be a market for replacement heads.

Have you tried 3D sculpting at all yet, Grim?

I haven’t no

I bet you’d get the hang of it pretty quickly.

I’ve only played around with the sculpting stuff (rather than the geometry stuff), but I’ve had some good results.

You should download Blender:

I just learned how to mess around from this series:

Dakkadakka Voidland Dwarves build kit. The heads are available separately on ebay and etsy.

I like the helmets, but I wish the beards were more curly and less braided.

Agreed. Absolutely excellent helms! There’s a few on MyMiniFactory that would fit the aesthetic and with some digital manipulation we could at least take the beards off before printing to save on time spent carving them away to make room for Green Stuff beards… I’m not savvy enough to make beards before printing though
