@chitzkoi Wow, this sounds fantastic β please create a blog. The Manchukuo uniforms up until at least the late 30s are almost exact copies of the earlier Republican uniforms the Copplestone models wear, so it would be even historically accurate β they even continued to use the five-coloured star of the early Republic, so you would not need to remove the insignia on their caps. Just be aware, the Copplestone guys are huge (32mm scale for sure), one major reason I put them on washers and not the GW plastic bases. And the casting quality varies (the Chinese I have are fine but the Russians were a major pain in the butt to prepare).
I love the Fireforge steppe warriors, such versatile miniatures. I also plan to use them in this project as local Muslim levies with a head swap.
Wow I was not ready for the Copplestone guys to be so big! The Kempeitai fella looks very slight by comparison.
Interestingly the Steppe Warriors come out looking pretty good next to them. Slimmer but well within the realistic range of human proportion. Admittedly the arms are plastic Warlord so they bulk it out a bit. The thing thatβs most notable is the big beefy Copplestone rifles.
Thanks for the comparison. Funnily, their proportions look almost spot on next to my second edition IG (if you have no access to a 3D printer and you want to do Valhallans on a budget, this is your range). The gun issue also got me thinking lately. I donβt mind the beefy guns but I would prefer them to be more consistent across the range. Anvil Industries has some heroic scale versions of historic weapons (Garands, Mosin Nagants and some generic bolt action rifle) although I am not entirely sure if I like them β they also look strange.
