Actually no. I love the idea of custom rules.
If i wanted to be constrained by the “official rules”, i wouldn’t have chosen an unsupported army to play.
I love the idea of CDs on a thundertusk or a giant elephant. Something like that giant 4 tusk elephant from lord of the rings, with the howdah.
Ogres are a great idea!
Somehow i imagine the squigs would end up causing too much collateral that anybody but goblins would seem them an unacceptable risk. Then again, who cares if a bunch of goblin slaves get eaten
Unconstrained…well… how about ogre mutants/surgically altered, I’m thinking along the lines of Bane in the DC universe. The Oliphant Howdah is great, but I’ve always wanted a howdah on a Haruspex. Maybe Overlords/castellans riding Carnifexes (yes I have a tyrannid fetish). Goregrunta chariots are a must!

As for squigs, that’s why you use ogres, everyone’s a winner… ogre eats squig… bigger ogre. Squig eats ogre … bigger squig.
I really hadn’t considered the slaves of the CD from the realm of beasts. So many options open up then. What a fantastic idea.
I think I would definitely be looking towards a mix, can’t have all your slaves from the same group as they may unit. So a unit of Savage Orcs, Beastmen, Goblins, Ogres etc.

I don’t see the new us fitting into my Steam Mesopunktamia Pirate army… And I’m thinking I don’t really want them to. Bits harvesting certainly, but I won’t hold out hope for use as is.
After seeing some of the new hobgob helms. I wouldn’t mind seeing some Dawi Zharrmurai leaning into ornate far eastern craftsmanship intermingled with some experimental daemon imbued weaponry. I could see myself getting some of those (and painfully squeezing them onto squares). Perhaps they could even be a mercenary company to go aside my current stuff.
Maybe we’d see Hashut rebranded into a ruler of Oni (I’m not even gonna translate that into GW speak, okay nevermind, O’uy-ni’i-’), and maybe… Lamassu → Oni
Edit: If GW doesn’t do this, I just may do it myself. now I kind of don’t want them to do this…
I will cling to any hope. Plus , ‘Warpcannons’, sound cool. Now if only there was something to spur my creativity into creating a counts as warp cannon war machine for CDs. Maybe a competition of some sort? Oh well, never mind.

Now that I’ve imagined my dwarves occupying rolling cities in the Realm of Metal, my initial reaction to hearing about new official chaos dwarves was “how dare you change the default chaos dwarves”
But really, it doesn’t matter. I’ll keep doing what i want, whatever they do with them officially.
