[Archive] [03.09.2009] so.sad's slow developing CD blog - finally updated

Xander:

Cool Blunderbusser! I have a very similar conversion in the works.

Hashut’s Blessing:

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Now we must wait! Chop off a slave’s hand for now and use that instead!

wallacer:

It all looks fantastic. Your conversion skills are certainly pretty impressive.

Borador:

looks nice, where did you get the masks?

Merchant:

Well that blunder is great, is it made from the miner plastic parts?

Borador
thanks
As I mentioned earlier I own a pretty large VC army... The masks shield emblems from the old skelleton box - I simply cut it down to be the skull only and then bended it into the desired shape.

Merchant
thanks again ;)
Yeah, the main part is from the miner champion. I cut away the blade thing on the front and instead made a "barrel". The handle on the top is an ond Gorkamorka bit I think.

@ all
thanks for the comments :)
I have not abandoned this project! I will continue it as soon as christmas is over (haven't got much time nowadays). In addition I had to do a little side Project first since me and some friends decided to start a little Gorkamorka campaign. This is why I had to convert some muties.

I promise to present updates after christmas !!!

Well, I'm not sure whether you want to tell me there is a very upset devastor aiming his gun at me if I'm not continuing this or you want to encourage me to show you what I did instead of the CD's...

I rather want to believe in encouragement ;)

ok, this is a little of topic, but since its not enough to make a new thread for this I'm posting it here (next will be CD's again ;) )

guess you know what this is :cheers

While I was unable to finecontrol my fingers I decided it was time for a new gaming Table. For this image I put all the figures on my workdesk on it (they all need some kind of repair).

One of the Muties I made for GorkaMorka

feel free to comment on those above (ya, wrong area, i know)

Willmark:

Nah your stuff is awesome dude, I was talking about this guy, your blundie reminded me of him:

Finally, its update time!!

believe it or not, I finally continued to work on my chaos dwarfs!

I decided it would be necessary to have my first hero done and this is why I started to look through the web for an appropriate miniature. I finally ordered one from sciborminiatures.com (I love scibors work on space marines) though I knew it would be slightly too large. When the miniature arrived I was stunned by all the detail.

mini and size comparison:

After cleaning the figure I cut it in two places to reduce its size a little bit. I also needed to remove the head since it wasn’t “evil” enough

size comparison after resizing and resculpting:

Finally, a shot of the WIP paintjob:

I’m also working on my entry for GH8 and on the blunderbussers

Kera foehunter:

Wow that is great heck i love the guy as a dwarf!!!

great job

theimmortal:

some realy great stuff there

Pyro Stick:

The bull centaur turned out great. A whole unit of them would look awesome. IMO i wouldnt use a green and red colour scheme.

After seeing your ogre i thought you might be interested in this guys army blog:

Thanks ;)
I reckognized that there is a tutorial for converting the dwarfes as well as the gobbos from the BFSP-Box, but none for converting the ponys. If any of you guys are interested I will do one :)

ok, I finished painting the hero's body but I'm kinda disapointed of the photos as they look much worse then the model actually does :(

next will be his axe and shield

greetings

Pyro Stick:

I think you need some more Chainmail and Shining Gold highlights. That would help to make all the details stand out.

Ghrask Dragh:

Nice work, I like the scibor edition to your army!

I might also be good to try and get a little more definition beteen the chainmail and the lion fur.

Excellent update :hat off

CheTralfara:

The conversion itself is one of the best CD heroes I’ve ever seen! One thing I’d change though is I’d extend the beard past those little cuffs at the end… It just looks like it’s supposed to continue past the rings…

Something I never understood about Scibor’s dwarfs were the lack of mustaches… ???

CheTralfara
Yea, at first I thought that, too. I even made some small skulls to place beneath the cuffs but when I test-placed the weaponry I figured out they woudn'd really be seen.

CheTralfara
perhaps he just can't sculp good enough to do them... oh, wait... ;)

@ Pyro
after considering your advice I highlighted some parts of the armor again. Its difficult to see in the new pictures but I thing it really improved the overall appearence. Thanks for the advice

Now I want to introduce you to my first CD Hero:

and a close up of is base:

c&c welcome

greetings

Lord Archaon:

The shield and the base are superb, but imho the blade of the axe isn’t good enough. Maybe you should paint it more dark like obsidian?

:hat off

I wanted to do it in green instead of purple, but I accidently grabbed the wrong ink.
I must say I like the look though it doesn't really fit the model. Not sure wether to repaint the weapon or not.

here are some more pictures. The lightning on the others wasn't the best so I decided to tidy up my desk and take some photos with the help of my desk lamp :)

as you can see the hero now fits the size of my other dwarfes quite well.

his shield

and look who just arrived
