So I was thinking about an Azgorh list and was really excited about the trains. I have an idea for what I want to try, but thought I’d get people’s opinions:
Lord:
The Prophet Zoram - Lev 4 Sorceror Prophet on Great Taurus
w/ Darkforged Weapon, The Other Trickster Shard, Dawnstone, Enchanted Shield, Blackshard Armor,
Lore: Hashut
Heroes:
The Daemonsmith Lemuek - Lev 1 Daemonsmith
w/ Blackshard Armor, Ensorcelled Weapon, pistol, Staff of Channelling
Lore: Fire
The Daemonsmith Lamek - Lev 1 Daemonsmith
w/ Blackshard Armor, Ensorcelled Weapon, pistol
Lore: Fire
H’Thark the Unstoppable - Bull Centaur Tauruk
w/ Black Hammer of Hashut, Blackshard Armor, shield
Core:
13 Infernal Guard w/ Full Command
w/ Fireglaives
Standard: Banner of Flamey attacking goodness
13 Infernal Guard w/ Full Command
w/ Fireglaives
255 pts
Special: Iron Daemon War Engine
285 pts
4 Bull Centaur Renders w/ Full Command
w/ great weapons
Standard: Ranger’s Standard
285 pts
TACTICS:Set up in one corner of the board to keep him from bringing all his stuff to bear. Throw the Iron Daemon engine at them and the Sorceror. Use the Hex that makes people flammable and gives them -2 to hit in hand to hand, then throw H’thark the Unstoppable at their expensive things. With S7 and any blows insta-killing them, he’ll be a machine against monsters, characters and the like.
Having three mages and the only Arcane item you picked being the Channeling staff seems like a waste. You also have an incredibly low number of wounds on the table. One decent shooting unit will take out this entire army. Sorry =(
I like it, but with only 1 train is it really a ‘railway’.
Anyway, you’ll certainly have some bad matchups and like Grimbold said you have low wounds but that’s not to say you can’t succeed with it. Any army with a Taurus Prophet in it gets brownie points from me.
I’m assuming you’re putting a Smith with each Fireglaive unit (7 x 2)? I personally think you should drop one and try fit in a Castellan (BSB would help) for the stubborn as with the low model count you’ll probably need a unit you can ‘rely’ on to hold the line… at least until they are all dead. If General is off rampaging around (which he should be, on a flying bull) you’ll be leadership 9 base, possibly with quite a few neg modifiers (ranks etc which you don’t have)

The Zoramite
I'm afraid this will work both ways. If I were fighting you, I would just ignore the Infernal Guard, or send useless chaff at them to keep 'em busy. To be fair though, they don't pose any real threat when they're in a corner, so I might just let them be. In the mean time I'd have my full army to deal with the mobile part of yours. That's 2000p vs. around 1250 of yours (or even less?).
I fear the Iron Deamon is going to be vunerable to getting locked up on (fast) cavalry when he has little support and there's no reason to assume you're going to out-perform me in the magic phase, so I wouldn't count on that too much either.
Ofcourse though, try it, test it, see how it goes.
What would you suggest changing? Points wise, if I want the Bull Centaur Taur’ruk, I’ve pretty much got minimal points for Heroes. If you take a look: I have 215 points. Would you rather I drop one entirely?
I want to try the Taur’ruk with the Black Hammer. Since casting Ash will make a unit flammable and any flammable model wounded by Tauruk is destroyed, I suspect he’ll make quite the character killer. He just has to survive one round. With 4 wounds, -1 to hit him and a 1+ save, I’d say that’s one of the most dangerous Hero choices around.
Assuming I get that spell, of course.
Any suggestions? Each of the units of Infernal Guard is kicking a minimum of 255 points.
