[Archive] 2250, my first fantasy tourny!

There is a smallish fantasy tourny at my local shop, and I’ve been working like a madman to get my dwarves up to the points quota of 2250.  Looking for some input (in particular about HOW to play/position, or wargear changes) as I’m using this store tourny as an excuse to get 3 games in over a day.

Sorcerer Prof, Lvl 4 Hashut, Chalice of B+D, Talisman of Pres, Enchanted Shield.

Castillian BSB, Handweapon/Shield, Mask

Engineer/wizard, Lvl 1 Fire, Dispel Scroll (For sitting near my machines and fireballing)

Hobgobbo Kahn, Spear, Shield, LA, Wolf

38 Dwarves with Greatweapons/full command, Ironcurse Icon (I was thinking horde formation)

1x Magma Cannon

1x Rocket

1x Iron Daemon

1x K’daai Destroyer

Its a very small list… and the Iron daemon rules confuse the heck outta me… (like can it move and shoot?  HOW can it turn… that sorta deal), but I figured a few games could help me learn.

I tend to keep the destroyer close to bsb so you can reroll those failed frenzy rolls. You can then wait for the enemy to come across the board and then send him in.

Watch out for flankers with such a small list

Just one big unit, the iron daemon, destroyer, 2 warmachines, characters… doesn’t look like too much fun to play! Are you at minimum core, or could you lose some great weapons to fund something else?

i think its a pretty solid list. You have enough shooting that people will have to come to you, the khan can keep people from double charging your dwarf unit thus getting you in trouble, while the daemon and kdaai will keep people from rushing at you too recklessly.

My only suggestions are on the character gear. I think you will get much better mileage giving your bsb the mace, dragonhelm and dawnstone. The mace with ash storm deals with all kinds of stuff that can give you real trouble, monsters, steam tanks, bloodcrushers etc, and the extra str helps alot. Sure youre vulnerable to killing blow I guess, but 2+ rerollable is way more reliable i find than 2+ 4+ 75% of the time and you still get the 2+ ws against anyone foolish enough to take the flaming banner.

And the Chalice is kinda gimmick-y unless you use it as faq’d where it can be used at any time, and some people might find that cheesy if they dont know you or never played you. If thats not a problem then game on, its freaking great to steal dispel dice before they get a chance to even roll them lol.
