[Archive] 2400 first list, LoA

khorndog88:

Hey all, been wanting to put a Chaos Dwarf army together for a long time, just to do something different and fun from the standard GW armies at my LGS. With the holiday season upon us, I finally took the plunge and got the Tamurkhan book.

The main reason I’m doing this army is bc of how beautiful the forgeworld models are, so no hobgoblins here. Here’s what I came up with for my first 2400 points.

Lvl 4 Prophet, lore of Hashut

-enchanted shield, blood of hashut, talisman of preservation

lvl 1 daemonsmith, Death

-dispell scroll

lvl 1 daemonsmith, Death

-chalice of blood and darkness

Castellan, BSB

-black hammer, shield

40 Infernal Guard

-hw/shield, full command

13 Infernal Guard

-Fireglaives

14 Infernal Guard

-Fireglaives

Magma Cannon

Magma Cannon

K’daai Destroyer

The Besieger:

I guess your General & BSB will join the big IG unit?

I will remove 2 IG of the big unit and add one more IG fireglaive

to the unit of 13.And add Dragon Helm on your BSB.

And you still have some points left :).

I realy like your list  think you will have great battle with this army :).

Glimpse the Void:

I like the look of this list in general. Do people find much luck with these small units of IG? I have been rolling it over myself. Also, I wonder if there is any way you could get that big block some great weapons as they already have poor intitiave any way.

Baggronor:

You don’t fancy mixing it up with any of the Monstrous Infantry units?

You could probably drop 10 guys off the big IG unit and bolster the other two a bit more?

Overall it looks like too many points in characters and IG to me, though it would look awesome.

Grimbold Blackhammer:

That’s a problem I often have - there is usually only a single “not small” block of Dwarves on the table so two expensive characters usually go into it. Take out that one block with a big spell and it’s game over. I have been running my General within 3" of my parent dwarf block or in a detachment unit for a few games now with good results.

My flatmate would Doom Diver my general to death immediately if I did that :)

Glimpse the Void:

You’d get the look out sir roll though?

Grimbold Blackhammer:

With a Look Out, Sir! roll, T5, 1+ armour save, and a 4+ ward save, bring on the divers!

Well, the armour is ignored, so its a 4+ to wound, followed by a 4+ LOS and a 4+ ward. He can hit pretty reliably too. Just not worth the risk on a 350pt Lv4 who is also the general. Don't really see any situation where the risk is worthwhile really?
