I’m hoping the archers and death magic can deal with the chaff and let me get the combat units home so my enemies can burn. and I am ok with losing to all dragon armor high elf shenanigans with such a big field.
Thoughts?
Are there other lists people have run with 8 kdaai fireborn and a destroyer that have worked well?

The freeborn and the destroyer work really well in partnership. I also find that people find them more difficult to tactically deal with.
Last week my opponent moved up a line of skinks in front of the destroyer with another line behind - basically soak up the destroyer and take him out of the game and shield the Slann . However I charged with the fireborn that were next to the destroyer. He had no choice but to hold.
I think its because of the blazing body, nobody else wants to go partner the destroyer but the fireborn don't care obviously.
Looking at your list though, I would look at giving your Castallen a shield for the 2+ Armour. Doesn't seem much but when you think almost EVERYTHING now is hitting with -1 armour save, your nice 3+ save becomes a tricky 4+ whereas with the shield your at 3+.
Also I would possibly look at dropping the hobs to 20, freeing up about 80 points and if you cane free up a few more getting a daemonsmith to babysit the hellcannon, it may only come off once a game but that reroll could prove decisive.
really nice looking list what are you plans for the hellcannon pushing it up with the kaddi or actually shooting it it can be a really good body guard unit for the level 3 and the other chaos dwarfs. I think apart from the armies that use a lot of chaff units (not really sure on your areas meta) you shold be able to take some stuff down last .tourney I went to they really punched there weight shooting lots of stuff for me.
I think you can get away with only having a level 3 as your running lore of death low casting values unless your going for a big sun and the lore gives you extra dice so you can play more aggressive
I would put the Iron Curse Icon on the BSB that goes with the IG. Your SP on taurus allready have the 4++. I think the 6++ on your regular dudes is better - they’ll take way more fire from warmachines than the general. And you need as many guys in that block to survive as possible.
There are so many large monsters and machines now a days - that i really like Ash Storm. That spell is well worth taking the lore for.
Unable to march and charge (have saved my units many times). Stopping magic and making shooting harder.
And for all those big things you’ll meet - flammable goes really well with k’daii and a bale taurus. You have a lot of fire attacks Some of them will hurt multible wound heroes and monsters - make it count double.
Fitting the “your unit has flaming attacks” banner is awesome too. Some of those beast will fail their fear tests too.
Ive been tinkering with this list based on the comments above and i decided to drop the hobgoblins and hellcannon and go super aggressive. Ive played the following configuration once and it worked well.
Prophet, lvl3 death, Bale Taurus, Mask of the Furnace, dawn stone. Castellan, BSB, Talasman of Preservation, ironcurse icon, dragon helm.
I think that your list is solid. It’s going to give some people fits. I think you’re better off making the BCRs into a single unit (they’re more anvil like) and using your fireborn in 2 units of 4.
As for no warmachines, well good for you. I think you’ll have a lot of fun playing this list and others will too. No sitting back and letting artillery do the work for you.
I really want to find something to criticize, but I really can’t find anything. It’s obviously weak to flaming ward saves, but most CD lists are. I think its a little underpowered magic wise, but it also is the strongest CD list in the movement phase that I think i’ve seen.
I do think that you have to make the BC’s a single unit though. I think you should drop the shields, add a standard bearer, and the gleaming pennant. Then use the remaining points (i think there is enough) to put a champ in the fireborn. This is important as you can now challenge, and that means you can limit a hero or lord (who is more likely to have magic attacks) and maximize the re-rolls to the rest of your unit.
I thought about that for a second, and now I disagree with myself. If you’re going to run the fireborn in one block, then you should drop one, buy the champ for the unit, and buy the standard and pennant for the BC. Any remaining points go into your GW unit in the form of a champ or another GW CD.
