Hey all! I’ve been away from chaos dwarfs for almost a year, having recently built up an army of dark eldar. However my LGS recently started having immense trouble getting GW stock in the door, so I figured it was the perfect time to head back to forgeworld and get my CD army back up and running!
I created this list based off of two key ideas. 1) My WoC work well in an MSU format with stubborn flying casters to annoy, march block, handle chaff, etc. so why not try that same style here and 2) I wanted to use models that are freaking cool and fun to model/paint.
I’m hoping for it to be competitive as well- we’re a veteran group, and since I haven’t played a game with CD yet I want to see what more experience CD players think of the usefulness of these units.
Lords:
LVL 4 Sorc Prophet, Lore of Hashut
-Great Taurus (using bale taurus model because, well, duh)
-Talisman of Preservation
-Enchanted shield
-Crown of Command
Heroes:
LVL 1 Sorc, Lore of Metal
-Chalice
LVL 1 Sorc, Lore of Metal
-Scroll
Castellan, BSB
-Mask of the Furnace
-Ironcurse Icon
-Great Weapon
-Shield
Core:
24 Infernal Guard (BSB goes here)
-Shields
-FC
25 Infernal Guard
-Fireglaives
-FC
Special:
2 Magma Cannons
Rare:
K’Daai Destroyer
Total: 2394
The idea is to use the lvl 4 to flank, get behind enemy lines, hex enemy units for Magma Cannons and lvl 1’s to do bonus damage to with flaming attacks, and if necessary flank charge a unit to try to hold it in place until I can get the charge I want (stubborn on 10 should hold for a while).
Use the destroyer to point and click, try to get off a combo charge with the two IG units, and use lvl 1’s to babysit magma cannons, which in turn try to whither down hordes or monsters/monstrous infantry/monstrous cav.
Thoughts? I see a lot of lists including hobgoblins and khans, but I don’t think that’s the route for me- I want a pure CD list, so what suggestions would you make? The only non-negotiable is the taurus/sorc prophet, as that model is insane and I’m definitely using it
Cheers,
Nick
