[Archive] 2400 tournament list no destroyer

Zanthrax:

I have an upcoming tourney and wanted to try to use as many infernal guard as possible with a hellcannon and magma cannon.

The Sorcerer Prophet and other Sorcerer will help with rerolls for the war machines. Khans will be run practically naked for redirecting or possibly dealing with chaff.

The tournament will use standard missions from the WFB rule book so although I will be mainly static I will attack from afar with war machines and magic focusing on the inevitable monstrous cav and other nasties.

Any thoughts?

Yodrin:

Looks like a fun list. I think I would bump one of the IG to 30, and use some hobbos for the rest of the points. I think 20 is I bit light…

NoisyAssassin:

I’m with Yodrin on the IG. Blocks of 20 GW dwarves are going to be tough, but they won’t win in the long grinds against large combat elities. I’d switch them to a single unit of 30 and use the points not for Hobbos, but for more firepower. Dropping 10 bodies plus a set of command and the Flame Banner (what Regens that you can’t blast with flaming magic or the Magma Cannon?) should just about give you enough points for a second Hellcannon, or a pair of Deathshriekers, or a second Magma Cannon and another Khan.

ThorAxe:

Agreed with the others. You really don’t need a third unit of infernal guard, the daemonsmith can sit by himself near the warmachines, getting a 2+ look out sir if necessary. If you fear for his safety, give him the charmed shield, maybe a pistol to help ward off dogs and saber tusks and the like, and maybe the seeds of rebirth if you want to spend on him.

An extra war machine or perhaps bull centaur might serve you well with the extra points. I always like to take a small unit of hob goblins with shields and a musician, as they soak up enemy great weapon units/monsters about as well as infernal guard, and with swift reforms can throw knives at annoying elf fast cav. Really a matter of preference.
