Holyfield:

My first attempt at an 8th ed all-comers list. Edited after comments:

Sorcerer Lord lvl 4 (general), Opal Amulet, Dispel Scroll

Bull Centaur Lord, HA, GW, Dragonhelm, Talisman of Preservation, Crown of Command

Chaos Dwarf Hero, BSB, Armour of Gazrakh, Sword of Might

Sorcerer lvl 1, Power Scroll

- For casting Searing Doom at Greater Power

Hobgoblin Hero, HA, Enchanted Shield, Wolf

- Warmachine hunting

29 CD Warriors, Great Weapons, Champion, Standard, War Banner

- General and BSB here, 10x3 or 6x5 formation

24 CD Blunderbusses, Champion, Standard

- Sorcerer here, 8x3 or 6x4 formation

25 Hobgoblin Archers

- Earthshaker protection

32 Sneaky Gits, Standard

- Anti-monstrous infantry, 8x4 formation

30 Orc Boyz, Shields, Full Command

- 6x5 formation

4 Hobgoblin Bolt Throwers

Earthshaker

9 Bull Centaurs, HA, Full Command, Banner of Swiftness

- BC Lord here, which gives him M9

hmm i have a few point’s

First: i don’t like the power scroll trix on you lord (but that’s probertly because my sorcerer useally die of miscasts)

The BC lord could be better i think.

how about

Talishman of Preservation, Crown of Command, Dragon Helm.

Heavy armour, Shield, Great weapon.

4+/2+ armour and 4+ward, 5S7/5S5 and crown will help you units in horde formation alot.

BSB is nice but give him a sword of might. (S5 is so much better)

Sorcerer - do you need him ? for offence a hero with the ruby ring would be just as good. (but i guess you want the scroll)

Unit’s

Well i’ll try to find points for “Better magic items for the combat characters, a Deathrocket, more Hobgoblins!”

So out with the hobgoblin wolf’s - for warmachines a cheap hobgob hero

Hobgob Hero

Enchanted Shield, Wolf, Heavy armour

And now u have point’s for more hobgobs and a few magic items.

Baggronor:

- Scroll is for a shot at casting Purple Sun at greater power
Well, if you don't mind risking losing the game due to a Purple Sun misfire (Sorcerer Lord Initiative 1) You know its gonna happen ;P

I would drop the BCs, they are poor in 8th as they take a lot of damage from return attacks and have little staying power. I'd get more Warrior blocks with great weapons instead, they rock.

Try Banner of Eternal Flame on BBs for those Regen bunkers, plus flaming attacks re-roll to wound vs troops in buildings.

Thanks for the comments. Of course I should not put the power scroll on the lvl 4 but on the lvl 2 instead. If I roll spells for the lvl 4 first then the lvl 2 is almost guaranteed to get the Purple sun spell if both choose Death magic. One elite player I talked to today pointed out that a lvl 1 with power scroll is a much better choice though, with possible lore of Metal signature spell cast on greater power…

I really like the idea of bull centaurs with M9 so I must try this unit out in practice. They bring the flexibility to deal with brittle but fast stuff.

I will however switch out the wolfriders unit for a cheap hero as suggested. Good point.

Got some points to beef up my blocks more to add some flexibility, couldn’t afford a new one.

OK, so after some practice with the list I have come to some conclusions: The Bull Centaur Unit is absolutely stunning. I have exactly the same feeling as when I played my High Elf Dragon list in 6th. A totally razor-sharp game winning stubborn unit who has the movement to go anywhere. The orc boyz don’t cut it. They need support to be able to do something. My opponents are totally afraid of blunderbusses and will avoid them at all costs.

So here is the upgraded list:
