[Archive] 2500 tournament list *edited with 2 wins!*

javi:

Hi all! And excuse my English please  :)

I have been around for quite some time now, reading throughout this wonderful site, and learning everyday from you guys, for this I thank you all.

So, here is my list, I will play a tournament this weekend with some friends, and I expect to see WoC, Skaven, O&G, HE and maybe OK. Not a big tourney in fact:

2500 Pts - Chaos Dwarfs Roster

1 Sorcerer-Prophet (Death), LVL 4,  Blood of Hashut, Enchanted Shield, Talisman of Preservation, 1 Crown of Command

1 Daemonsmith Sorcerer (Metal),  Charmed Shield, Dispel Scroll

1 Hobgoblin Khan, Light Armour; Shield, Wolf, Dragonhelm

1 Infernal Castellan , BSB, Shield, Mask of the Furnace

24 Chaos Dwarf Infernal Guard, M+S

24 Chaos Dwarf Infernal Guard, M+S

20 Hobgoblins Cutthroats, M+S, Shields

20 Hobgoblins Cutthroats, M+S, Shields

4 Bull Centaurs Renders, M+S, GW+ Shields + Standard of Discipline

5 K’daai Fireborn, + 1 K’daai Manburner

1 Chaos Dwarf Magma Cannon

1 Chaos Dwarf Magma Cannon

Total 2498

Pretty standard I know. I used to get Lore of Hashut but considering Death as I would like to have something to deal with super tough monsters/heroes (thats why lore of metal is there also), as I consider I have more than enough to deal with all troops T3-T5 already, and my experience with Deathshrieker has not been very rewarding until now either.

Plan is to lower numbers on enemy elite units with both MC’s, so they are weaken enough to be dealt by my IG, while K’daai Fireborn take care of T3 troops, backed up by BC if needed. Otherwise BC will go war machine hunting, or flank charging. Hobgoblins are there to protect my IG´s flanks and step forward to avoid anything with impact hits charge my IG´s (in my meta almost everyone plays with chariots and things like that).

Well my main doubt is regarding the lore I chose, as I really like Lore of Hashut, and I think it adds a lot of flavour to the list, not so sure about effectiveness though.

I do not play the Destroyer because I do not have the model built yet.

Any comments/criticism will be very welcome!

Thanks guys.

MLP:

I like the list it seems pretty good all round. I would probably want to use Lore of Hashut rather than death as death is pretty short ranged. I’d also consider changing to fire on your demonsmith as WoC are the only heavily armoured opponent you have so metal might not be so good.

I would also try to put bows on the Hobgoblins for some added cheap firepower. Other than that it all seems good, let us know how you got on in the tournement. good luck

Samanos:

i play with death and its effectiveness is incredible.

MLP i cant really see your point, excluding flames of azgoth all spells in the lore of hasut have small range as well.

death has many useful spells that can go up or more of 24’’. the only ones that cannot go are 5 and 6.

i would consider giving the lvl 1 death as well for the signature spell. it will propably kill those eagles/flyers that escape the bulls and the occasional gorgers.

havent tried this one though so i cannot talk about result.

other than that seems a very standard list.

good luck in your tourney!

javi:

Hello and thanks both for your replies.

It is specially the range of Hashut spells what I dislike the most. I forgot that I will also be facing TK and Lizardmen, so metal might be handy, although if I chose Lore of Hashut for my lvl 4 Id definately be using fire on my lvl 1.

I would also like to put bows on my hobbos, but I just cant find the points!

I will try and write a small report when I come back!

Salud!

MatNotBarlow:

The Mask of the Furnace is 65pts, the Castellan cannot wear it.

javi:

Mmm, I do not have the book with me, but the list is made on Army Builder, and iirc Castellan can wear up to 75 magic items?

MatNotBarlow:

My apologies, The Castellan defies all of other Heroes allowing 75pts :S

So you are fine to give the Mask. I may well do that too now :stuck_out_tongue:

javi:

So I had my first two games yesterday, against WoC and OK. Both clear victories on CD side (specially agains OK)!! Hurray! :cheers

Things learned:

-Death is definetelly not worth it for my game play. I will go for Hashut+fire next time.

-K’daais are absolutelly awesome! Both games played a great role, specially in the game against WoC where they destroyed a horde of 50 Tzeench marauders with HW+S (strange as Id have taken them with 2h+Khorne, but…) on their own wothout losing a single wound, and had time for a rear charge on the 18 chosens of khorne (yeah, with 4+ WS…), who finally run away (thanks Hashut!) due to combat ress.

-Magma cannons, just wow! They made it to inflict 18 wounds on an ogre unit in a single turn, and paid well over their cost. Not a single elite enemy unit arived to my IG’s with all ranks. They were both killed in both games, hehe, happily death I assume after a good job.

-BC, this was my fault, but in neither games they were what they are supposed to be. First game a bad positioning allowed a dual charge from two charriots killing 2 of them outright, and then flee due to combat res :frowning:

Second game they were able to hold a unit of 5 Maneaters on the right flank until K’daais arrived to finnish the job together (K’daa`s already killed a unit of 4 Leadbelchers).

-Hobbos, hehehe, they made a great job I have to say. They are more resilient than one may think. First game I positioned them to received the charge of the Chosen and hold the turn to let me a flank charge with my IG. Next turn they received a rear charge and that was it for them. Agains OK the left unit was able to hold a giant for 2 turns until I eated the rest of his army! Inside grals Ld bubble they are just amazing!

Today, if my wife allows me :mad I will have to face O&G, this guy is a very good player and has his army fully painted, which I just love. Mine is still under progress :s

javi:

This afternoon I played against O&G and it was a minor win to CD (for 150 pts), and overall the stars of the game were K’daais again. These guys are just amazing, I am in love with them. They are great against low T troops, but they great also against very high S troops also with their -1 to wound and 4+ WS.

It would have been a clear victory to CD but on my turn 4 I miscast with my Prophet and lost 3 lvls, which left me undefended against his spells, which finally turn the table the last 2 turns, and he almost made it!

Regards.
