[Archive] 28mm Mycenaeans/Achaeans/Minoans?

Antenor:

Taking a cue from the lovely boar’s tusk helmet on AdmiralMiniatures’ new hobgoblin assassin, I would like to ask if any of the esteemed members of this forum might have some advice regarding 28mm Mycenaean/Achaean/Minoan miniatures. I think that the Aegean Bronze Age could be an interesting base for a Fantasy faction (e.g. with snake priestesses wielding elemental magic and creatures like centaurs, minotaurs, harpies etc. in specialist roles). I don’t know if something in that vein has been done. If so, I’d be glad to know!

Well, here’s what I have found so far:

Warlord Games sells a line of “Achaeans” by Cutting Edge for Hail Caesar.

Wargames Foundry has a large range titled “Myceneans, Minoans and the Trojan War” (and also one titled “Greek Mythology”, including this Bronze Bull that might be interesting to Chaos Dwarf generals! :hat)

Casting Room Miniatures (“Trojan War/Myceneans”)

Eureka Miniatures (“Bronze Age Greeks”) with an additional, smaller “Myceneans” category

Redoubt Enterprises (“Trojan Wars”). Many of the minis on this page are just shown as drawings, but those look really nice. Some have no picture at all, unfortunately, but from what I gathered the site is being reorganised at the moment.

Do you have any experiences with these manufacturers, or maybe know of some others that might have eluded me?

Thanks a lot!

Zanthrax:

I love Wargames foundry but sometimes they can be on the smaller 28mm side. I also think they have some sales on atm.

Don?Tt know about the other bros apart from the always awesome Admiralty minis.

Make sure you post some pics when you get your minis.

Admiral:

Wonderful idea! I can’t chip in with anything useful here, I’m afraid, though Lucid Eye Productions are currently delving into Sea People just in case that is of any interest as well. Also here’s a boar’s tusk helmet sculpting tutorial.

Looking forward to see what you come up with.

Just from looking at the pics, Wargames Foundry is among my favourites as well. Thanks for the hint about the scale!

That's a great tutorial! Fantastic to see that period getting some well-deserved love. This has made a significant contribution to my day :cheers
Also, Lucid Eye's Ziggurat range looks really promising. Thanks for the hint!

It's going to be some time until I start my Bronze Age project, but I'm looking around for different minis now because, when the day comes, I'd like to set out with something like a plan (we'll see how that works out). I shall, of course, keep you up to date! :hat off

Admiral:

Thanks! Besides, speaking of Bronze Age fantasy and Chaos Dwarfs: How about converting some Hittite Chaos Dwarfs? Or Cimmerian Hobgoblins? Just tossing ideas at you.

Cheers

Great idea! But I must confess, I don't know a whole lot about Hittite culture. Anyway, that's a lot of fantastic dwarf concepts right there. Please keep tossing :)
