[Archive] 3000 Points List vs WOC Advice Needed

Pyro Stick:

Ive almost finished painting my CD’s so im planning on writing a proper 3000 list so i can get some use out of them. My opponent will be WOC. I dont know his exact list but its got Archaon & Swords of Chaos, loads of knights, warriors, marauders, wulfrik, chariots, warhounds, a hellcannon and maybe some skullcrushers and everything has mark of khorne. Ill get the full list from him later. I havent had a game or read a rulebook in probably close to 5 years so i have no idea what the best way to equip the new units are so i would really appreciate help with that. Im pretty much relearning the game from scratch. Heres a WIP, very incomplete list. All equipment is temporary and im sure ill change most of it and im going through the Deamonsmith Handbook and other threads so ill be updating regularly:

Lords
Sorcerer Prophet
-Enchanted Shield
-Talisman of Preservation
-Dispel Scroll

Heros
Infernal Castellan
-BSB
-Mask of the Furnace
- Shield

Daemonsmith Sorcerer
-Level 2

Bull Centaur Taur’ruk
-Blackshard Armour
-Shield
-Dawnstone

Core
Infernal Guard x30
-Blunderbuss

Infernal Guard x28
-Lichebone Pennant
-Great Weapons
*S-P + BSB here

Infernal Guard x10
-Fireglaives

Special
Magma Cannon x2
-Hellbound

Bull Centaur Renders x4
-Gleaming Pendant
-Great Weapons
-Shields

Rare
Hellcannon

This is around 2800 points. I have plenty models to work with (apart from K’daai and a Dreadquake) so i can change it quite a lot. I could probably also add 35 hobgoblins.

Time of Madness:

Basic equipment for the Prohpet should be

- Enchanted shield

- Talisman of Preservation

- Dispel Scroll

That’s a 2+ save followed by the 4+ ward. You could also give the smith the scroll and take the chalice on the Prophet.

The BSB should always have the mask of furnace and a shield for a 2+ saved followd by the 4+ ward as well.

I like placing the bsb/prophet in the same unit. I usually place them in a unit that is 28 strong 5X6 deep formation with the lichbone pennant. this gives them a 3+ ward vs snipe spells.

If you are running great weapon infernal guard run them 21 strong (7 wide as a support unit). I much prefer fireglaives in a small unit of 10 over the great weapon guys. They basically pack the same punch in combat, but also can shoot.

Throw the gleaming pennant on the Centaurs. Gives them the chance to re-roll an LD out of your general’s LD bubble.

Hope that helps.
