[Archive] [8-16-2018] Willmark's Chaos Stunty Army Project-WARNING PIC HEAVY!

Hammerhand:

nice work WM, Can’t wait to see them all painted. Your blundies are ace btw. Good luck with your GHV Entry!

Willmark:

thanks for the comments guys. I didnt feel like painting last night so I worked on assembling my black orcs. Now I thought the regular orcs were a pain to rank up… They have nothing on Black orcs! Those guys are murder!

torn:

i have to completely agree with you there!

bought the 20 man black orc regiment and regret it very deeply. i know they are going to be fantastic in games but after the trouble of glueing them together, and they still done rank properly, i just dont feel like painting them. in fact i have done 1 an i dont like the colour scheme!

i really like the great weapon warriors. what did you use for axe heads?

Willmark:

I too will be adding 20 with full command. I have 14 done. Need to do the last 6, which I’m off to assemble now.

Considering the “armed to da teef” rule I mixed it up. That being said I used a lot of the 2 handed weapon models.

I actually have a color scheme in mind for them, different from the army too. In my army they are mercenaries; attracted to promises of vast riches in the employ of the CDs. What is gold to a Chaos dwarf, when you have that much why not spread it around and gain some formidable fighters to your cause?

clam:

Willmark - what can I say - that haven’t allready been said?

Do you ever rest?

The BB standard turned out beautifully - I love it - can’t wait to see your GH V then

And I like, that you are paying attention at your core choises - and those Great axes looks promising.

Not a slave man myself - but G! - I love that BLork Standard. Really wan’t to get my hands on that some day!

Willmark:

Rest? Heh. For but a few hours each night. No.

Core has been added more recently because it is taking me longer to convert them. The great axe unit for instance was started in September.

The Black Orc standard is what I strongly considered for quite some time for GHV. It was the reason I added the unit.

As far as GHV you’ll have to guess from amongst the awe inspiring entries (I’m sure).

Canix:

Excellent stuff Willmark looks like you really are flying the blundies are great >

Your workrate is impressive, do you have a south american continent enslaved in your basement ?:hat

Willmark:

Torn- sorry I missed you question earlier. I used a number of axes heads from the 6th edition multi part dwarf plastics. I snagged a bit bag of them off ebay in September.

Canix- heh unfortunately no. I typically paint/work on the army 4-5 days a week. I used to play a ton of video games at night but realized something. At the end of the night of playing video games, what do you have to show for it?

Now with warmer weather I most likely will lessen the pace. Plus with more Core choices nearing a finished state I can actually start playing. Plus it will soon be time to get outside and do chores, mow the lawn, walk the dog, etc…

On top of all of this I have a vacation coming up in 10 days.

EDIT: What do you get when you mix together the following?

- 2 Anvil Guardians from the Wheeled Anvil of Doom

- 2 classic throne of power bearers

- 1 already sculpted chaos dwarf sorcerer

- and some miscellaneous parts.

I don’t know either but i do know they are all going to be part of my “count as” army standard. I have some ideas, but nothing definite. i got a late start so I couldn’t get much more doen other then priming my black orcs and my 2nd chaos dwarf unit with the great axes.

So stay tuned, lots of items in play in this army and blog.

GRNDL:

re: Black Orcs ranking up

Personally I didn’t have a problem with getting them to rank up. I just slapped them together and staggered the models like on a checkerboard: great weapon, hand weapon, great weapon, etc… Are we talking about the new Black Orc plastic kits?

AGPO:

My first post on this blog for a while and what can I say? You continue to surpass yourself my friend! I especially like the exalted sorcerer as a piece of work, very cool. The wolf riders are inspired

Willmark:

GRNDL- the multi plastic ones. I should further clarify, the first 14 were terrible. The last 6 not so bad.

Thanks AGPO. If I can pull it off the sorceror is going to look awesome.

Willmark:

UPDATE

Two units to share, one complete and one on the way.

First off the 1st hobgoblin archer unit; more or less done except for a few touch ups I noticed after shooting with the camera. This was the unit I was going to work on before the poll(maybe the warriors too but see below).

Don’t know why but I had fun with these guys and they were very fun to paint.

Next up are the next warrior unit. They are coming along. As you can see I have started to add parts for the “count as army standard”. I will be transforming these anvil guards into army banner guards with robes over armor perhaps. The bearers (of which I will be using two) are undergoing paint removal which is proving to be trickier this time around…

Thsi unit is part of my ongoing effort to bolster my core choices, but taking a long time due to the sheer amount of effort required in converting.

AGPO:

Those warriors are TOO cool. I love the old hobgoblins too, they’re sooo characterful. My favorite model the is the champion. My one suggestion would be to move the unit filler to the centre so he’s protected on all sides in true dwarf fashion.

Canix:

The hobgoblins look great and the twohanded axe warriors are very cool, the helmets really fit the models good choice :hat.

Still churning them out at a great rate;)

Kera foehunter:

the front row are sooo cool willmark

clam:

Those Hobbos turned out nicely - but I would still like to see your own sculpts … please

And the white metal Anvil Guards as basis for your banner guards - that could be a cool - but also a tough - conversion! Hope we’ll see them soon

Btw: Nice avatar - and congrats with the new title

I hear you, but will be tough to do with a 5 wide frontage... If they were 6 wide it would work just like my general...

Heh. We will see. The prices of hobbos on vultureBay have gone through the roof! So hobgoblin infantry will definitely be converted figures. Archers are popping up usually in groups of ten going for ~$50.00 US... :/

Thanks, being a mod has been fun.

Hammerhand:

how about a pic of all your stuff so far wm?

:hat off for the WM CD machine!!!

Narflung:

Awesome to see your Battle Standard in progress. As someone suggested about making it removable to use as a sorcerer, have you thought about magnatising it to ths base?

Really loving the way its all going, the hobgobs are great!

Willmark:

Yep I have some great ideas for it now that I am back from vacation. It might very well be removable…
