Now todays question is, I have around 150 pts left, and this tournament will have some unknown objective based scenarios such as a take and hold or other. With my 150 points should I get 10 wolfriders with LA/S and music, or 10 black orcs with standard and music. I realize the point totals are not perfectly matching, but with some other jiggling, I can make it work
other then use 15 bb’s units and 20 hobbos units you can also swap the hero with a BSB - with armor of gazrak and sword of might.
if you gonna use 6 hard bloks of infantry (3x20 hobbos, 2x15 BB and a core unit of warrior with war banner) you could work better than using little units…
and in this way a BSB is fondamental…
wiht lefting pts i should put more BTs or death rocket or wolfrider
Looks like you have gone for a gunline approach with disposable hobgoblins to act as delaying units. Whilst not a tactic I would use it may work for you - however look for fast movers and flyers to real ruin your party.
I would say you want to get your BB units to 15 and add a standard that way they have a bit of staying power then up your warrior unit to 25 and give them a warbanner.
This will provide you with 1 reasonable hard unit and 3 units that can act as medium infantry if they need to. I would personally also go for 20 man units of hobgoblins - with the amount of shooting you have you will have to watch your fire-lanes or hobgoblins will get in your way. plus at a bigger size they can hold of fast movers and flyers a lot more effectively.
Just making those changes will probably soak up your spare points.
this list looks like an old list used in italy in last 2000 pt no limits tournaments…
it had got:
Sorcerer lord level 4
2 x sorcerer level 2
bull centaur BSB
3x15 BBs
3x20 hobbos
10 wolf riders
8 bolt throwers
2 earthshakers
it was the only CD list becamed famous in italy…
i never used, mainly because i like balanced armylists and i played limited tournaments, but italian players talk about this list like something very hard to beat… even without a warriors core unit (i don’ like to go to battle without not less than 2 warriors units with full command… but in this post we are talkin’ about bad list :))
That list is pretty comp nasty. That being said, I would go Bull Centaur BSB with armor of gaz and sward of might. You are very vulnerable to crappy flying units and tunnels. You need soemthing that can charge out there and go after them. I would definitely fill out those Blunderbuss units so you have some static combat resolution behind you if you do start to fight. I am not sure you need that many hobo units. They will likely get in the way of each other and may help you opponent reach you faster via fleeing or overrun. I would run two or three units of them and send them to the corners for VP. You have two earthshakers, I would put more faith in them. I think wolfriders would be nice to help take care of other fast cav. Seriously, against this army, I would just hide and go for a draw and advance to contest corners if terrain allowed me cover. You are going to have to ask yourself what you are going to do if an opponent just hides from you.
I can honestly say that this army holds no fear whatsoever for any list that i would take to a tournament with 10 drops and zero combat potential its game after on turn 3 at the latest. Please do not take that as a personal attack (it isn’t but apologies if it comes across as such) its just that this is a gun-line with throwaways that can be done so much more effectively by other armies. As soon as any of you units gets into combat with any opposing unit they are going to get destroyed and you don’t have anything that can flank charge effectively against things that you flee from. Your warrior block is too small, your blunderbusses units again are too small (when charged they will have no ranks) and your hobgoblin units are far to easy to panic and will just get in your way more so than your opponents.
The list Alan has suggested is much more effective as it has hte same theme but addresses all of the issues I have just mentioned

Maul
The BSB is a good idea, and giving him the same kit will give him s7 to whack chariots (and those pesky Walters)
I only have 34 BB?Ts so going with 3 X15 wont work, I was figuring that I was better with three units purring out a narrow band of s5 than 2 wider units with ranks, but it would gain me some points to go 2 x 15.
If people turtle there's not much I can do except pound them with the earthshakers and spells, and hope to eke out a victory, using the wolves and little hob units to try to contest quarters.
The other issue is that I have 30 beautifully painted marauder CD's, and If I can't use at least some of them, it will make me sad. So maybe this then level 4 2 stones black gem
level 2 scroll stone
level 2 scroll scroll
centaur hero BSB gw gauntlets of bazrach armor of gazrach
BSB with great weapon is not good: you need one hand free for standard!!
That's why usually BSB has got sword of might: it works as the same of gauntlet without any risk to wounds yuor troops (and it costs the same 20 pt.)
Sorry for loosing S7, but BSB it's more reliable for your dirty plots...:)
Alan the evil
BSB's cant use great weapons? I thought they could pretty much use anything as long as thay didn't take a magic standard, (and I'm not)
He may carry any magic banner(…) but if he does so he may take no other magic item. He may not be given any extra equipment except light or heavy armour
This means that you can use OR magic standard OR magic items, but nothing more than l/h armour like ordinary equipment…
