[Archive] A Trebuchet by Willmark?

Willmark:

So I’ve been creating all kinds of terrain and models while working on three armies, its madness in the Willmark Man Cave! So what do I do? Naturally I create some siege weapons, for Hashut only knows why. In the background of the first pics you can see the book I copied the plans out YEARS ago

But the kicker? I of course have to make my trebuchet functional, here it is:

Still a bit to go but as you can see I’ve started painting it and the swing arm and basket for the rocks is loaded and glued. My intention was just to make one for siege games, but being a mad hatter :hat off I had to make it fully functional.

I also made it generic enough that it can be used by my different armies rather then one specifically.

Abecedar:

Looks authentic. Just think of all the little details you can add. Rivets, metal braces, pegs/dowels through the joints, rope bindings.

every time I make something I get side-tracked even totally derailed by trying to make it actually work

Fuggit Khan:

So cool! I love siege machines of all sorts and types.

And bonus points for making a functional model of it!

You know, that would of been an awesome Golden Hat entry…or do you have even cooler GH surprises waiting for us? :hat off

I guess you'll have to wait and see, don't want to tip my hat, see what I did there? :hat off

Grimstonefire:

When you say fully functional, how far does it throw?

I’d stick that on an oval scenic base, but I guess it fits better onto different terrain if free standing.

Great work though.

Willmark:

Grim- not sure yet. I still need to make the sling and its release part. Plus it’s still really rainy here in western NY. Rather try it outside.

Roark:

So cool.
