On the PDF it says pay X for Great Weapons. It also says pay Y to swap out shields for Blunderbuss.
Is there any reason you can’t do both, or does it clarify you can’t.
The question then would be: would it work?

Swissdictator:
Thanks wallacer, that’s a good point. I’d agree with you. Wwith that wording does prohibit it.
wallacer:
If it makes you feel any better, having CD with blunderbusses and great weapons probably wouldn’t be a good idea, even if it were permitted
Swissdictator:
Perhaps, but I can think of some amazing looking conversions.
Like my Yosemite Sam Blunderbuss dude or few I have right now…
wallacer:
There’s probably no particular reason you couldn’t have some of your blunderbuss unit converted to have great weapons. Just mix and match them a bit and make sure your opponent knows what they’re actually armed with.
GRNDL:
re: Conversions
I have an image of those old western frontier type weapons with the rifle/club combo, but with a nice bell Blunderbuss with a spiked warhammer attachment…
Ubertechie:
I used to field dwarf quarrallers with great weapons in my normal dwarf list - comes as an unpleasant shock when fast cavalry charge them and then they hit back at strength 5.
Henroth:
It also says pay Y to swap out shields for Blunderbuss.Well... Chaos Dwarfs can to take paveses (shields for crossbowmen).
Is there any reason you can't do both, or does it clarify you can't.

Hashut’s Blessing:
I’d say, despite how cool it is, for the cost per model, not worth it. 5+ save, 12" range, always strikes last (would usually anyhow), at 14 points a model? A little too pricey for me. But, as has been said, it says OR
Kera foehunter:
well hb has a point ! at 14 points per guy i field more troops!!
Willmark:
Not having crossbows for chaos dwarfs is indeed a puzzling thing, to me it seems natural.
wallacer:
I guess maybe the lack of crossbows is due either to the scarcity of timber in the darklands or because they value timber more as fuel than as something for making weapons with?
I guess they could probably trade for timber though if they really wanted it.
Henroth:
Can to manufacture crossbows of metal (iron, bronze, steel…). With bowstrings made of metal or skin of orc.

Steel cable, Rhinox/Ogre tendon.Yes, for example.

wallacer:
I guess you could make a crossbow mostly out of metal, but if you were going to do that why not just make a gun?
