In this week?Ts newsletter, the second in our series of special Horus Heresy character sets is available to pre-order ?" the infamous Ezekyle Abaddon, First Captain of the Sons of Horus, and the noble Garviel Loken, Last Captain of the Luna Wolves. We?Tve also added a new interview to our YouTube channel, and we?Tve got some events news for you.
Abaddon and Loken
Ezekyle Abaddon, First Captain of the Sons of Horus and Master of the Justaerin, was one of the most renowned and fanatically loyal commanders of the XVIth Legion. A hulking brute of a Space Marine, whispered rumour had long speculated that he was the clone-progeny of the Warmaster himself. Regardless, Abaddon walked willingly into treachery alongside his master, slaughtering many of his former comrades on the blasted fields of Isstvan III, and soon his name was amongst the most feared and despised of the traitor Horus?T followers.
Garviel Loken once commanded the 10th Company of the Luna Wolves Legion; later the Sons of Horus. He was a well-respected and senior commander, and one of the Mournival, the unofficial cadre of Horus?T closest advisors. His idealism and staunch loyalty to the Emperor and Humanity saw him selected to command the Sons of Horus contingent in the assault against the recidivists of Isstvan III. When the true scope of betrayal was revealed, Loken and his comrades cast aside their Legion name and proclaimed themselves Luna Wolves once more. They exacted a heavy toll on those they had once called brother, but it was as the Last Captain of the Luna Wolves that Garviel Loken fell.
This very special pair of models are supplied in a particularly handsome presentation box, just like Angron, and Abaddon and Loken are multi-part resin models, each packed with Legion-specific iconography. Each is dynamically posed and supplied on 40mm and 20mm bases respectively for gaming purposes. The figures also slot into a large scenic base to allow the fateful duel between the two to be represented.
Simon Egan has designed two stunningly detailed figures to depict these two most famous commanders of the Sons of Horus Legion. Loken is charging forward, his hatred of the traitors writ clear upon his features, while Abaddon is braced to receive his former brother?Ts assault, the Eye of Horus having replaced all Imperial iconography upon his armour. Abaddon is additionally supplied with two weapon options: an ornate power sword and the combi-bolter that his wargear includes for normal battlefield use.
The Abaddon and Loken set is available to pre-order now for despatch from Friday 1st March.
We felt that such incredible miniatures, and the cataclysmic duel that they are fighting, deserved some extra insight, and so we?Tve uploaded a new video to our YouTube channel. Simon Egan explains some of the design process behind these two special characters, alongside close-up shots of the incredible level of detail that he has achieved.
lol as much as i’d like to see some new Chaos Dwarf Models, how can you complain about these models? Especially if you have been reading the Horus Heresy series!!!

The Heresy models have been fantastic......

Two things
1 The price I too have been reading the Horus Heresy series, I have got the Forge World Book Betrayal and really really wanted Abaddon but £55 for two marines is a little steep even for my pocket. I didn't think £50 was too bad for Angron especially with the scenic base consisting of marines going flying but this release is a bit beyond the pale.
2 we've had nothing but HH for months now and it's getting a bit boring. I used to be on the edge of my seat waiting for the news letter each week but lately I don't feel that excitement knowing it's almost certainly going to be more HH stuff.
Don't get me wrong I love the models and am (very) slowly building a HH army but I just want a bit of variety in their releases.
I KNOW Space Marines make them money and Horus Heresy stuff is a little more interesting (and at least new), but they could release two things at a time - one for whichever Space Marines they wish to satisfy this time and another non-Space Marine to keep even one SM-hater interested… They’re so boring and bland, that even FW are now failing to make me look at them (at all) now.
I would be sick if it was another rehash of a space marine chapter, But this heresy stuff is damn impressive. It’s nice to see Loken. Such an awesome character.
well i would prefere a secon heresy book, if one was ever planed… I would start to make a Heresy themed SM army but i prefere Thousand Sons. So if i start now and convert some marines and build my list based upon the “standard” heresy army list and some months later a new book with a thousand sons list comes out i would propably be pissed.
There are a whole series of HH books planned, the first three have already been confirmed by Forge World
Book 1 “Betrayal” Istvan III
Book 2 “Massacre Part 1” Istvan V (Iron Hands, Night Lords, Salamanders and Word Bearers)
Book 3 “Massacre Part 2” Istvan V (the rest of the legions involved)
They also are talking about continuing the HH series right up to the siege of the Imperial Palace, including a model of (and rules for) the Emperor and Daemon Prince Horus.
The 1000 sons book will probably be the sacking of Prospero and involve the Space Wolves.
Yes I am interested in these books I just want some variety in my Forge World goodies
Don’t get me wrong the Horus stuff is amazing and I totally love the story, but that love is roughly 1/1,000th of my feelings towards new freaking FW CD’s!
SO JUST RELEASE THE DAMN K’DAAI DESTROYER ALREADY AND QUIT SCREWING AROUND FORGE WORLD!

I know the K'daai destroyer is an acquired taste, but I totally dig it! Really looking forward to it, especially since K'daai Destroyers are all random and different builds of giant Daemon machines. I think it's cool to have two massive, very different looking K'daai on the board and the new FW one will compliment nicely my converted LOTR Balrog.
But I hear you gIL^... it'll either be a big hit or a big miss with FW players
I hated the look of it when I first saw it but the more I look at it the more I enjoy the sheer oddness of the design. I would definitely say it’s a acquired taste rather than something that will have a mutual appeal.
Back on topic if this is the pattern will we have to sit through 4 entire chapters of pre heresy marines before we get any love from FW?
The Warhammer Forge Destroyer has grown on me.

I think there is only a few Chaos Dwarf mini's that have universal appeal, Like the daemonsmith with the backpack. Most are odd and have grown on me so time will tell.
Hell i hated the infernal guard but i think my entire army will be themed as infernal guard.
