Just curious if we have any Geocachers on the CD site?
If you know you, if you don’t there is always Google… :~

GRNDL:
LoL, funny you should say that. I just logged today’s 5 finds before logging on here. I started a few months ago and find it gives me some purpose on empty weekends. I use the same nick on Geocaching.com
nitroglysarine:
thats odd, i found 5 caches today to :-p
Thommy H:
Googled it. That’s crazy…
GRNDL:
Why is it crazy? Personally, I find it very cool knowing about caches when most peeps just walk by them. Caching has taken me to many places that I didn’t know exist and I’m glad I went there. Of course, some of them have been two steps away from the devil’s armpit as well, but my life is richer for having been there.
Personally, I’m glad I’m not longer a muggle. Heh.

... Personally, I find it very cool knowing about caches when most peeps just walk by them. ...This line made me curious enough to Google this strange word. It felt very "Matrix-esque". I didn't know what to expect, and to my surprise it was an interesting read, and pass-time. Not my cup of tea, but I can see the appeal. Now I know that Cachers walk amongst us.

I discovered a geocache behind my house a few months ago after noticing some very persistant searchers one day (they didn’t find it). My next door neighbour used to do it a lot, and as soon as I get a GPS I will have a proper go - i.e. not just relying on Google maps to find them.
nitroglysarine:
its an awesome hobby, i’ve put out about 60 of my own.
about 220 finds all in Wales in the uk. some fantastic views i would never have seem otherwise.
Thommy H:
I wasn’t criticising, GRNDL - it actually sounds really interesting. It’s just crazy because it’s obviously a really absorbing and widespread hobby but I had no idea it was happening. It’s secretive by its very nature, and the idea that all this has been going on for years under my nose without me knowing anything about it is a bit mental.
nitroglysarine: whereabouts in Wales do you live?
Davespaceman:
I remember reading about this ages ago and thinking about trying it out think I may sign up and have a go as there’s on near where I live
nitroglysarine:

Thommy H:
Haha awesome. I lived in Aber for five years, and I’m from Shropshire originally so I know Oswestry too. Small world, I guess.

I eventually did English Literature, after trying my hand at Physics for a couple of years, which is why it was five years. Are you at uni there or are you a real Aberystwythian?
nitroglysarine:
ok, getting odd now :o

Thommy H:
I started my physics degree in 2003 :o I probably don’t know you, but I bet I’d recognise you by sight, because we were bound to have been in some of the same lectures (although I didn’t go to that many…).
nitroglysarine:
…
were you skinny, blond, glasses?
there were only about a dozen in the class if you recall.
Real name -John.
Remember the Lecturer Tudor Jenkins or Students: Richard, Gemma, Duncan?
Thommy H:
No, I was (and am) not-that-skinny-at-all, brown hair, glasses. I remember Tudor Jenkins very well indeed (whenever someone asks what a valleys accent sounds like, I do an impression of him). I don’t know if there was more than one Richard, but I was friends with ‘Mad’ Richard who had long hair (nice guy, no comic timing) and I remember Duncan too, I think. Was Gemma the one in Warpsoc or whatever it was?
John is not a specific enough name for me to place you, annoyingly. Any distinguishing features? Head too small for your body? Broad Essex accent? Midlands accent and a bit racist? Always wore Hawaiian shirts? (These are all based on actual recollections of people from that class).

Thommy H:
That’s a shame about Tudor. I pretty much had a crap time when I was doing physics, but he was a cool tutor.
But yeah, this really is weird now. I still can’t figure out who you were, but I hung out with Richard quite a bit in the first and second year and used to bump into him at the Alt. May Ball now and then and have a bit of a chat. I’m certain I’d know you by sight! Hey, I’ll track you down on facebook and we can stop annoying everyone else with a conversation that means nothing to them.
