[Archive] AOW Doomcrushers(1)

thewizardofoz:

I ordered these a year ago and paid for them. They were supposed to be ready for September. That turned to October, which became January. Still no word so I asked for my money back and have received no word from them.

Very disappointed and will not be dealing with them again.

Has anyone else heard anything about the doomcrushers or AOW or have had similar experience?

Bloodbeard:

That’s a real shame. Sorry to hear about it.

Three of my mates have AoW products ordered from the site. None of them have had problems. Two have ordered Corrupters of the Apocalypse and one ordered witch elves.

Malorndk:

I have bought their Dark Elf sorceress and Chaos Dwarf hero, but that was in 2012 or 2013. That went by the book

snowblizz:

I’ve heard of a bunch of delays with regards to AoW.

Looking at the forums they talk about February.

In general AoW seem to be overwhelmed by popularity to an extent. And I guess some attending productions issues.

If we are talking plastic kits then there are only a limited number of toolmakers, actually I only know of 2, GW and Renedra (though I’m discounting any Chinese ones as Wargames Factory may be using eg). As far as I understand it Renedra are basically fully booked for tooling by the large numbers of various people wanting to make plastic moulds, since everyone and their dog moved to Kickstarter and gets the funding there’s a a bottle neck in the market and of course the really big customers get preferential treatment (think stuff like Warlord Games).

I’ve waited for my Heresy Dragon for, what, 4 years now? Although actually it was delivered 2 weeks ago to the friend who ordered it for me back before I got Payapl.

Grimstonefire:

AoW are moving/ have moved to pvc from china I believe. So that might explain the delay, presuming they’re not warcast.

AoW are by far the worst ‘successful’ kickstarters. He should have learned to only do a couple of units per kickstarter as every one will take say 2 months, so 6 units in a kickstarter will mean a year at least to wait.

I’ve got on preorder some marauders, still hoping for feb, but expecting march. As they’re after doomcrushers.

torn:

i pre ordered the doomcrushers and im not holding my breath.

thewizardofoz:

I wouldn’t mind if they said - June but you know what it could be a year. Its the poor communication I am most annoyed with though.

I have actually past the point of wanting the models which is sad.

Another kickstarter based desire - but really loving the Titan Forge metal beards - they would be so cool in my Wizard of Oz army as Ironsworn but not sure about how kickstarter things work or when they would be ready - Feel like Ive been burnt by AOW now.

Bloodbeard:

Titan Forge has very good communication and updates through out and after their kickstarters. real easy to follow the projects.

and as far as I know they deliver on time. Kashan Vra and those s eam dwarves went out fast.

GeofreyShank:

I have dealt with Titan Forge plenty (backed two of their kickstarters and have purchased from them since) and have found their service and communication to be top notch. Highly recommended.

Firehammer:

AoW is famous for being a topnotch sculptor but bad in production and communication. If possible, only order from retailers that have the product in stock … otherwise you have to be VERY patient, waiting up to a year or more. That said, I got my Witch Elves with only a few months delay. His crowdfunding campaign was Indiegogo, not Kickstarter BTW, and he is several years late on that one.

Titan Forge is a pleasant company, although some people had problems with getting their kickstarter stuff (not me, I got everything in time).
