Willmark:

Just got my April White Dwarf (issue #339). While not a great issue by any stretch of the imagination. It wasnt horrible either. Sad when even an average issue is worth the read. The first 3 issues this year held no appeal to me and reminded me an I don’t have a subscription.

The mega Orc vs. Empire battle wasnt bad.

Still lacking any real hobby articles thou.

I’d be interested in hearing of others I impressions of the issue.

I thought the ziggraut of doom article was ok but they should have an article on how to build it and the harry the hammer is good.

Fantastic compared to the recent issues but mediocre to dissapointing if it had been released in the Sawyer era. If that had been a special edition when he was editor I’d have felt cheated, as it was I was pleasantly suprised

I had a good laugh about the “free giant poster” that was included in the the new White Dwarf (German version), which turned out to be a lousy 4* A4 size. Not very impressive! :slight_smile:

I would have thought that there is more about the upcoming Daemons in it. But the mega battle was not bad. Who has ever seen over 100 Black Orcs in one army after all? ^^

Sad that we accept the current WDs as good, when they are actually crap as you correctly point out.

I thought it was a VERY good edition. But, that’s probably because of how fed up I was with them. I only got it because my mum randomly got it for me over Easter. Normal standards? A little below average. However, I liked the Ziggurat of Doom and inclusion of stats for lots of things. zagor66, it’s online as to how to build it.

The afore mentioned legendary battle is cool in its size and scope. The massive Big Gork siege machine certainly gets the creative juices flowing for ideas for CDs.

Also as Ishkur rightly points out in th podcast its the first WD that isn’t jammed with advertisements every two pages…

In short good for the White Dwarfs that are out today, but still not even close to the best issues from the past.

I think that sums it up pretty nicely. Its the first one I’ve bought in ages, I’ll buythe daemons release issue and the one with the mortals list, but thats purely because they’re relevant to my chosen armies
