[Archive] Are all LoA units getting warscrolls?

Novos:

And so as we all knew it would, most of the details for AoS have reared their heads.

http://www.belloflostsouls.net/2015/06/breaking-age-of-sigmar-rules-inbound.html

Turns out the entire game will be re-vamped into a simpler 40kish atmosphere and every single existing unit will receive a free downloadable stat card (or warscroll). My question is, do our Chaos Dwarf units from Tamurkhan get the same treatment.

I think this is awesome for people who play obselete armies like Bretonnians, all of their units will get fully updated stats for this new game, but what of our boys?

Anyone hear/read anything?

Thanks!

TheHoodedMan:

I only read in one of the rumors, reported from someone who took part in a demo, that were was one statcard for a chaos dwarf unit. This was explicity mentioned.

(Personally I think that Forgeworld will have to adjust their rules themselves and follow up with statcards. They do not only have chaos dwarfs, but also some other fantasy stuff, which is worth bringing it into the new game.

For example the River Troll hag is a great model, but you cant bring it in normal games, because the footprint didnt fit for a troll unitfiller.

There are further great models, especially monsters.

Interesting....

I really hope you're right. I wonder if GW will take custodianship over the LoA and release AoS rules for them or if Forgeworld will be handling it. And yeah same goes for all the other forgeworld models.

Dînadan:

I’d think FW would handle it as you can get the LoA minis via GW shops or website.

Of course this might mean we won’t get hobgoblin rules as a) they don’t have minis in production and b) they’ll probably say just use goblin scrolls

Yeah I'd say so too. Though I think the hobos and the destroyer will still get scrolls as they are official units, just faceless at the moment. Maybe those 2 will be newly released battlescroll units from GW?

TheHoodedMan:

Yes, thats my hope, too. <br>They have rules in a Forgeworld book at least. <br>(Thats out of print sadly).

True but didn't FW say that was just so existing CD players could use their minis? That's not something I can see GW caring about at the moment considering the entire point of AoS is to shift minis. :/

I just saw a picture from white dwarf describing the factions. They were as described by that poster who brought up chaos dwarf units. The new names for dwarfs, elves, orcs, ogres and goblins is true. It said while dwarfs are staunch allies, the Red Slayers are looked upon less favorably because there services are bought with coin. Red Slayers are part of the forces of order. Are chaos dwarfs the Red Slayers?

Heavygear:

Link to the White Dwarf force descriptions.

Y las nuevas facciones de Age of Sigmar son: Order, Chaos, Death y Destruction y Warscroll mucho más!!! ~ Reino de Juegos

Doombeard:

Red Slayers are the human faction, mercenaries, they replace Empire. That’s what I heard. Elves, Dwarfs and Humans and Lizzies vs Chaos vs Undead vs Orcs

I saw that same rumor on BoLS but it wasn't verified to be what was left of the Empire. The poster didn't know for sure. It would be Orcs, goblins and, Ogres in the forces of destruction.

Doombeard:

true dat . Maybe it was more mumbo jumbo. I remember reading a while back the starter set was going to be all humans vs chaos, including some huntsmen/archers, a villager with a bulldog and some questing knights! There should be some awards for the worst rumors.

cornixt:

No army lists, but a shed-ton of pages with one per unit. Eurgh, this is messy, I was hoping they would be playing card size. I guess it won’t be long before someone makes copies that are a more reasonable size.

Heavygear:

I found it odd that Forge World expressed that they had no idea what Age of Sigmar was. Clearly AoS has been in planning since before last years End Times releases. I find it strange that they would have no plans in place. I can only hope that since Chaos Dwarfs do seem to sell for them, that they will eventually offer War Scrolls to update the rules. Of course they could simply Squat us all together.

If they Squat us, I 'm not sweating it as the Chaos and/or Dwarf factions should provide us with reasonable proxy rules. Frankly, there is only one guy at my FLGS that has anything good to say about AoS at the moment. I may end up having to play Kings of War or 8th if I want to get a game in.

And then others will bitch and moan because the fonts are too small, and when you point out they still have the full size ones they'll still complain ;P

@Heavygear: fairly sure it's been established that GW doesn't communicate with FW that much, so not surprising they're in the dark too.

Thommy H:

It’s a little premature to be figuring out what warscrolls are required, in what combination, before we’ve even seen what the backwards compatible ones for existing models are like. We don’t even know how options, mounts, etc. will work.

Thommy H
I agree Thommy, that is why I worked up a maximalist list based on the 3 GW/FW sources.

The key asks are to have a RH style "standard" Chaos Dwarf warrior and Bull Centaur included to provide a "low point" alternative to the FW choices.

Bitterman:

Heavygear
FW and the studio Do Not Get Along. It's quite possible they had next-to no idea, at least not until very recently.

Or it's also possible they know exactly what's going on, but weren't exactly about to spoil the planned announcement by spilling the beans in an email.

Either FW will provide CD warscrolls or not (and they don't need a list telling us what's needed - they make the models, they know...). I guess for reasons of cosmic justice I'd prefer it if they did - but I've read the AoS rules, and I'd rather defecate in my hands and clap than play that insult to wargamers' collective intelligence; so I won't be too upset if they don't.
