hello! I’m working with my chaos dwarf figures and one day it’s finally a whole army:cheers my problem is that some of my freinds told me that chaos dwarfs are not gonna be an legal army for longer in the future! :mad
please, can someone who know more about CD than me tell med that this is a lie?
Also, there are strong rumours pointing at a 2009 re-released of the army.

Though you might not want to hold your breath for this actually happening. I think we have a better chance of an Elvis sighting than CD's in the future. Now a new army list... maybe.
How do you even define ‘legal’ anyway? If you’re just playing with your friends then they have no reason to refuse to play any current version of an army. If you’re playing in a GW store then it might be a bit thornier (I’ve heard stories of Chaos Dwarfs not being allowed in the past) but…in short, no, they’re not illegal. The PDF is still there on the website, and it still says it’s what Chaos Dwarf players should use.

I would have agreed with you before... but a very good source has informed me otherwise. I posted about it a while back.

Great.... but.... when I see it... then I'll believe it. :)
That being said late 2009 maybe they have a shot. After all how many army books are left? Ogre Kingdoms, Woodies and Dwarves just got revamped at the end of 6th so they could bee seen as the first books for 7th edition...
Laughs What is it with me and unwanted armies? I have a 1500 pt Dark Eldar army as well as my Dawi Zharr. But seriously? What do they need to remake for fantasy? O&G, Empire, Dwarfs, Woodsies, OK and soon HE are remade. That leaves them Skaven, TK, VC, DE, Brets and Chaos(both of them). 6 titles if GW are ever-so-wise as to put HoC an BoC in one book (But theire not :)) We will get our book soon enough Im confident. We just need to believe and maybe sacrifice a few (thousand) more slaves. Now where did I leave my Goblin?
I wouldn’t count on the turnaround of other army books as an indicator, there has been 2 O&G/Dwarf/Lizardmen/Brettonian books, 3 versions of warhammer, the introduction of a quite a few new armies (including LM and Brets who’ve had 2 books!) since WD Presents: was released, and there will be more before [if] it does get re-released
I have also heard from a very reliable source that we “should” see Chaos Dwarfs in two years time.
As for them being legal, yes they are just not for the UK Grand Tournament and infact in my Games Workshop store im encouraged to bring them as they are eager to fight my CD, they are hardly seen now-a-days and new aspiring generals wish to fight the ultimate evil of the east (Ogres aint evil, just hungry). Which is kinda weird but thats how it goes. (On a side note this has mean’t my Skaven havent seen a battlefield for a while since my new masky and helmy CD were converted, God bless Xanders guide and Snotlings work :hat off)
Games Workshop haven’t discounted Chaos Dwarfs like they did with the 40k stunties. I do think that with not many generals playing CD and next to no updated history makes CD seem a lot more evil to newer players and people seem to think that they arent legal but they are
Your always more afraid of the unkown, or the last edition PDF rules pack haha :hashut
Don’t forget that there are now a whole load of people who’ve been in the hobby for years and still have never heard of ravening hordes the last army not to have a WD preview list or a full 6th ed army book apart from us were beasts of chaos - anyone who started collecting after then may not have heard of ravening hordes - thus to them CDs just look like one of those lists you get in White Dwarf or campaign supplements - all of which are of questionable legality - so its natural for them to question. Hold your ground and ask the staff to confirm that ravening hordes is legal until an army book or preview list is released. If you need further evidence then go to WD 250 or there abouts when I’m pretty sure theres an article on ravening hordes backing up its officiality (I don’t have it on me at time of writing) or ravening hordes itself (well done if your copy has survived this long btw) which i think has an explanation in the front, although my copy died many years ago…
I have the pdf file but regarding the everlasting ravening hordes I had my Ravening hordes, RoR, DoW and Zombie Pirates lists from WD made indestructable by methods of putting clear plastic over them by elmanating (aint got a clue how its spelt though) them. I found this works resonabally well.
I did it with the tyranid monstrosaty chart as a couple of 40k gamers in my area tended to abuse it. Not that I minded though just meant I played my warhammer more, yay the original and best.
And on topic yes they are usable, again, and any GW staff that says otherwise, well either shoot them with your blunderbuss or put them onto us in the CD forums! :hat off
