[Archive] Are Warriors of Chaos the new chaos dwarf list?

speedygogo:

I’ve been thumbing throught the Warriors of Chaos book and even played a couple of games with them.  I feel that they are the best “counts as” list for Chaos Dwarfs especially since no one is allowing Chaos Dwarfs at a tourney.  Marauder types count as hobgoblins or orcs and Chaos warriors and knights count as the dwarves.  While you don’t get all the artillery most everything else is there to proxy.  Anyone else have any thoughts about it?

Swissdictator:

I’d run it different… Warriors being CD, Chosen being immortals, and Forsaken being misc green skin slaves. Sure, we gave them “joy juice” before the battle and pointed “that way”.

Knights would be Bull Centaurs.

Though most or even all tournaments locally for me allow them.

What Tommy H said…but yes, several people have already started to work on this.

Renufus:

I could see it working in theory (like at a UKGT where Chaos Dwarfs proper are banned). WS5, S4, 2A, Ld8…Okay, I guess they are the blessed children of Hashut so they would be stronger than your run-of-the-mill Dwarf beardling (if a bit less disciplined)…But M4/I5 Dwarfs, I don’t think even the Father of Darkness could make that work in a way that makes sense.

speedygogo:

It is good to hear that lots of us are thinking alike. I really like the idea of mixing marks for a chaos dwarf army. It lets you create a Hashut type blessing without contradicting the fluff.

Chaos Dwarfs live in the most barren, featureless, deadly place east of the Empire. It's not hard to believe that, unlike their subterranean brothers, they're more used to crossing large distances and being able to quickly defend themselves. Especially as they've lived in this area, above ground, for multiple generations. Perhaps it's one of their peculiar mutations?

Alternatively, since in this current incarnation chaos dwarfs craft Chaos Armor, they keep the best armors for themselves. Intoning the winds of chaos to speed themselves (somewhat similar to how a Disk of Tzeentch or Screamer of Tzeentch interacts with the winds of chaos).

Willmark:

As Thommy points out this has been discussed before. However if anything thevdwarfs make the most sense from a practicality stand point. They do not mesh in some areas as noted before, chaos meshes to a large degree, in some areas not as much.

personaly im inclined to use normal dwarfs, though im a little concerned how do i use bull centaurs…

Regiments of Renown or Dogs of War.

Thommy H:

If you’re going to use Dogs of War, you might as well just use the Chaos Dwarf list as it is - they both date from the same period and have the same nebulous status when it comes to “legality”. I can’t imagine an opponent who has a problem with Chaos Dwarfs being fine with Dogs of War.

Willmark:

+1 what Thommy said. Dogs of War comes the closest in terms of the CD list but also suffers from the qusai legal stays that we do.

Grimstonefire:

4+ Armour save Chaos Dwarf warriors is really tempting…
