[Archive] Azram The Lost

kin slayer:

Quick Background for him is that he was a dwarf slayer that made his way in to the dark lands to find his doom but hashut has bigger plans for him.

So whlie he’s in the dark lands hashut starts to slowly penetrate the slayer’s mind giving the slayer visions of his shame and of him turning to the worship of hashut, its like a constant re-run in the slayer’s head that he can’t escape and just to drive the slayer that bit more crazy every time the slayer is just about to find his doom hashut intervenes in some way so the slayer lives. untill the slayer ends up that mad that he follows the vision and fall’s to the worship of hashut…

Azram the lost, two axes that have been bless by a high priest of hashut

diven so mad by Hashut Azram now belives that the dwarfs of the worlds edge mountains are twisted chaos worshipers so when fighting His former kin in close combat Azram’s axes gives him +2 to his strength

His axes still have the rune of fury which adds +1 to his attack (added that to his start profile)

Azram is is followed by to wolves (names am thinking kain and able) how this came about no one knows but Azram has so close a bond with them that they would give up there lifes to save his because of this if Azram is struck will a killing blow and his wolves are with him one of them will take the blow for him (so the wolf would be killed insted of Azram but Azram would be droped to 1w both wolves can give there lifes for his)

Azram can pick an enemy model for his wolves to hunt if he sets his wolves to hunt they will move to the enemy model untill that enemy has been killed they will then return to Azram (if Azram is killed and his wolves are still on the hunt they will stop the hunt and move strate to were Azram’s body fell from there they will attack any model friend or foe that come’s with in 6 insh’s of Azrams body)

First thought: punctuation, please.

Second thought: not a bad concept, don’t really know what to think of the wolves though. It seems to make him pretty powerfull if they can hunt opponents as well as taking shots for him. THought about points?

kin slayer:

Your right on the punctuation i’ll fix it later but in my defence it was about half 3 in the morning.

Why the wolves can take shots for him is because he doesn’t wear armor and no ward save. Also for the wovles to take the hit they have to be with him when he is hit which they wouldn’t be if they were on the hunt.

Points for him and the wolves are 177.

thanks

Okay, but isn’t the no-ward save and the no-armor inherent to being a Slayer? Fluffwise it’s okay if you can fill in the blanks as to why exactly they follow him like a couple of puppies. You could (I emphasize: “could”) give him a ward save/ magical equipment that gives him a one-time save against missiles/ KB/ whatever. 2 wounds per wolf seems bit much, but it could work.

Plus, being a dwarf means short legs and therefor no ability to catch swift opponents. The use of wolves is a nice trick to counter that, but wouldn’t 177 points for all three be a bit on the low side?

kin slayer:

I could bump the points up to say 250 or 300 what do you think how much would you pay for him ?

What i was thinking with the wolves was because of the no armor/no ward save the wolves would take the hit for him but how about i make the wolves roll to take the hit say +4 or +5 they take the hit for him so the wolves in a sense would be his ward save when there with him. Do you think that would be better ?

I’ve just started to add to the back story of why he has the wolves. In short at about the midd way in point of his travels in the darklands when Azram is starting to lose his grip on whats his visions and what is reality a magical strom hits the area of the darklands he is in (Hashut again). He finds his way in to a cave for shelter were he is set upon by a wolf. Azram believing this is just a new nightmere he kills the wolf. Then he spots the two wolf cubs hidden in the corner. Realizing this was not a vision and his gilt raising his mind slips back to his gr8 shame…(which i will be revealing when i write the hole back story up). So he makes a second vow that he will care for the two cub as if they were his own. So as he becomes more twisted the wolves follow along with him because of them seeing him as a pack leader.

Thanks for the feed back it relly helping

The 177/250/300 points could be based on 1) the cost of a dwarf Slayer with those stats + 2) twice the cost of a wolf (note: they should have the same stats for the same cost; if they have better stats, this should be accounted for in the overall points. Does this make sense? I hope so.)

A ward save/ is rather pretty expensive for a normal RnF model, so on a Hero-model it is normally even more expensive :s

Fluff regarding the two cubs/ wolves is better, but I guess it could use a bit more work if you want to make it ‘believable’. Why does he care for wolves? He’s a dwarf: wolves + dwarves don’t normally mix that well, do they?

agnosto:

If I could recommend anything it would be to use the rules for Ogre Hunters from Ogre Kingdoms for the wolves (why reinvent the wheel?) as it seems they’re nearly the same as sabretusks anyway.

kin slayer:

Anonymouse= I’ve been toying with the points thing and i’ll try this, say 500 points to take all three. So it would be 300 points for Azram, 100 points for wolf 1 and 100 points for wolf 2.

The fluff/back story for Azram and the wolves, am still in the middle of writing up which when am finshed i will post. The two small bits of background i posted on here were just so ppl had a ruff idear about them all.

If it helps i can start to add there back story now.

Again thanks for the help and feed back

Agnosto= I’ve never read the ogre kingdoms book or came up against them so i wouldn’t have a clue about them.

But i’ll grab their book and have a look coz like you said why reinvent the wheel. Coz lets face it if there are already rules there it make life a bit easier

Thanks for the info

Like the concept, look forward to seeing your proper post regarding the character.

Like the wolf idea (just like an ogre hunter) use Sabre tusk points/stats. (20pts per 2 wound wolf) and they have a move of 8 which will help counter the slow dwarfness.

Like Kin Slayer said, the sabre tusk rules/stats/points are perfect for what you’re looking for.
