[Archive] Base size chart?

Sherlocko:

Sorry if this have already been covered or I posted in the wrong place.

So I am finally thinking about starting a chaos dwarf army. Again. So I will scrap my old RH list and make a brand new one, full of motivation and inspiration and such.

I was just thinking, before I start putting way to much time into this, does anybody have a good idea how big all of the FW machines and such are? What bases are “appropriate”? Since it is kind of hard to tell from the pictures of FW, and I still have a hard time wrapping my head around the list any help would be appreciated. :hat off

Thommy H:

Anything with the unit type “war machine” doesn’t need a base. The Iron Daemon fits nicely on the Screaming Bell base, I believe, which is also the base the Bale Taurus comes on. K’daai Fireborn come with 40mm square bases.

deadlydeceiver:

Jep, if you want bases for your machines you need the screaming bell base. Every machine fits perfectly on it! (Iron Deamon, Skullcracker, Magma, Deathshrieker… the Dreadquake would need 2 though)

As Thommy said: K’Daai on 40x40mm, Bale on Screaming Bell

Bull Centaurs on 50x50mm (confirmed by FW)

Great Taurus/Lammasu on 50x50mm

Hellcannon on 100x150mm (Like Destroyer/Stonehorn/Arachnok)

Hope that helps

DD

Sherlocko:

Thanks, this helps a bunch!

cornixt:

There was a more recent rumour that Bull Centaurs would be on 50x100mm bases.

I do hope not as I just finished mounting mine on nice 50x50mm bases!

flashgordon:

hell cannon isnt 100x150 is it, mine fits on a 80x100 movement tray

Thommy H:

The Finecast version released a couple of months ago comes on a 100 x 150 mm base.

flashgordon:

fair enough, good job i replaced it with 2 rockets in my list :stuck_out_tongue:

cornixt
if that is true, those models will become massive

flashgordon:

that would make any unit larger than 4 pointless and fw would stand to lose out on potential sales so it doesnt sound plausable

wallacer:

Iron Daemons also fit well on a War of the Ring infantry movement tray, if you don’t mind filling in the holes with plasticene or something.

MLP
I hope not as well, I've just ordered a load of 50x50 dragonforge parched wasteland bases.

I think most other monstrous beast types are mounted on 40mm or 50mm square bases, Didn't someone from WF say "I can't say for sure but 50x50 would be a really good idea" Can't remember where I saw it but that sprang to my mind.

Da Crusha:

50x 50mm was the rumor repeatedly until one of our own here started questioning whether they would be put on 50mm x 100mm bases.

Thommy H:

50 x 75 mm seems more likely - 50 x 100 is a chariot base and, while there are some monstrous cavalry on that (Ogre Mournfang Cavalry), the more rationally sized Demigryph Knights are on 50 x 75s.

Da Crusha:

oh yeah I meant 50mm x 75mm. its just such an odd size I didnt even catch myself.

flashgordon:

thats the same as demigryphs isnt it?

Da Crusha:

yeah. even they look too lonely on that large base.

MLP:

Da Crusha
Screw how lonely they are! Imagine how lonely my lead Bull Centaurs will feel. Small and enfeebled they will look, no opposing army will take them seriously!

50x75 does seem plausable, but maybe not as they aren't cavalry like demigryph or mournefangs. Although it's not like forgeworld will stick to anything like that.

Also I hope they're not on larger than 50x50 because they'll end up being huge and therefore ridiculously expensive!

rubencm81:

Why not 40mm/40mm? It is a monstruos beast, as Nurgle beasts, and those are 40mm. Any link about FW & the base for Centaurs?
