Fallen246:
Alright, just picked up the beastmen book, and, gotta say (with one or two exceptions) LOVE IT TO TEARS!!!
First off, two things I don’t like? Razorgor = boring looking, wouldn’t use despite rules. I just don’t like it, it’s not fun to me, it’s not essential to me, it’s not being used. Nuff sed.
Secondly, where are the newer hero models? The plain bray-shamans and Beastlords/Wargors don’t seem to fit in with the newer models, and don’t seem nearly as dynamic. Probably gonna buy the AoW beastmen now… ANYWAYS
Three things that appealled to me ridiculously, the Crygor, the Ghorgon and the Jabberslythe.
BUT how do I create them? The Crygor I imagine is a giant/larger minotaur, both of which would be hard to convert for me to a one-eyed awesome guy, with a stone no less.
Jabberslythe would be easier, some spawn-thing with a few modifications, but then the Ghorgon? Four armed Giant, beast head?
These will be big undertakings. No pun intended.
So, any tips of fur, where to get heads etc and what parts to use I would LOVE from you guys.
P.S. I have been lurking for ages, sorry for my absence…
Baggronor:
I would just convert a Giant for the Cygor. Or try and get hold of that old Dogs of War Cyclops giant. He is chucking a big rock too.
Jabberslythe, perhaps use a Varghulf as the base? Or Chaos Spawn? Or maybe even look for the really really really old Jabberwock model. Its weird-looking:

For the Ghorgon, I would start with something like a Bloodthirster. Possibly the old Minotaur Lord, he isn’t as bulky as the new ones, but his axes are freaking huge and his head looks cool.

Cygor, plastic giant, totally. Ironically the stock model has only 1 eye and a stone in his hand if make the “Beastman version”.
I’m personally (going to be) using the Shaggoth for a Ghorgon. I bought the model and have never been able to use it in the army it was released for.
Razorgors… well see those will be some old monster models. Got plenty of those no longer in the list. I’m not buying crap models for nothing.
As you can see I’m not exactly a model hardliner. I’d suggest hitting up the Herdstone for suggestions of converting models. We have several threads in the Painting section with tips and alternative models for those who does not like the stock ones. And there ain’t many who does…

I was also considering converting a minotaur mo0del into the cygor, as it’s described as large but also minotaur-esque. And the models are cheaper
Actually, how do we know for certain with these models, like obviously their description implies their size, but it doesn’t exactly give a standard?

Here’s what one local in my area is using. He has a winter theme for his beasts army but they certainly work!

WOW!!!
I have seen that Cygor model before, I'm deciding to not use it but, but the whole winter colour shceme is rather impressive... Makes my brown scheme idea seem rather pathetic now.

As they are Large Targets you would be expected to have a suitably impressive model. Even though technically not required by the rules.

That is true, I just struggle deciding on whether or not I can afford to buy two giants...

Ghorgon and Cygor?
I at least will be using my old giant as a Cyogr, one eye and stone and all that.
Got plenty of other large models I've yet to use as well. But that clearly is not the problem you have. ;P
There are some decent cheaper alternatives people have suggested. I'm not sure all of them fit the imagery though (a problem when buying eg action figures).
In conclusion I don't think it is possible to get off too cheap. And have it look good as well. As mentioned, read through the alternatives threads and see what options are available. Best thing to start of with I'd say.
Da Crusha:
Im going to convert my ghorgon from the balrog just like that link baggroner posted. I bought it on ebay for like 15 bux, some guy glued it horribly and the paint job sucked so no one bid against me. Im already planning on using the wings for my great taurus which is the original reason I bought it.
Fallen246:
A different contemplation was for me to create a one-eyed, four limbed monstrosity with two blade arms and two arms throwing stones, that I could use for either…
Considering I think my friends would allow that as long as I told them which it was to begin with.
Although then I couldn’t use them for both.

Sounds like workable plan. You could always make a second more specific one later on.
And you probably want a Jabberslythe in addition anyway.
TBH with the expense of everything in the list cramming in 2 of the monster rares and the special slots and characters and some core you might not have much of an army.
And if the 8th edition talk is anywhere close to truth running double rares might not be an option any longer.

No Jabberslythe. It doesn't have "gor" or "Ghor" or even "Ghur" in it's name. That, and I just don't like it much.
And the 8th edition talk is hurting my head. Regardless, I was more thinking I would use them at different times, not both at once, except in a particuarly large force anyways.
