[Archive] Blunderbusses(1)

thewizardofoz:

Stupid question alert I am afraid but I am not great with the rules and have a very poor memory, so please forgive me.

I know if 10 or more models are firing at a target, you ignore the -1 for standing and shooting but do Blunderbusses always get to stand and shoot regardless of range?

TheFNG:

No. The distance must be greater than the movement of the charging unit.

Thanx, I wanted clarification as that's what I thought and then I was gaming at the local shop a week or so back and the guy there said Blunderbusses could ALWAYS stand and shoot as if they were quick to fire - it completely slipped my mind until last night when I thought I would ask you guys.

Could he be referring to an earlier edition of the Chaos Dwarf rules maybe?

Thank you for the help anyway. Slave coming your way TheFNG for your help.

Grimbold Blackhammer:

All black powder weapons are Quick to Fire.

thewizardofoz:

Where does it say that my friend, that is very exciting!

TheFNG:

Yes, I’m curious about this Grimbold. This is very good news indeed if true.

Time of Madness:

All black powder weapons are Quick to Fire.

Grimbold Blackhammer
Not correct.

Only weapons that are listed as Quick to Fire have the rule.

The majority of black powder weapons are actually "Move or Fire".

thewizardofoz:

Alas, I am disappointed.

Never mind I still love em!

I can confirm this. I combed through the BRB and could only find nothing linking QtF with blackpowder. Would have liked to have been wrong though.

Grimbold Blackhammer:

Sorry, I was making an overly-broad statement. The Handgun does not have have Quick to Fire but Pistols and a Brace of Pistols do. Blunderbusses do not (learned something new!), and I believe pretty much all the Dwarf and Empire guns do but I’d have to go look at their army books to be sure. I’m used to facing the latter and getting shot in the face by them…

No worries, you gave me a glimmer of hope then and for that I thank you. lol

Despite their lack of 'Quick to Fire', I still think they are awesome.

TheFNG:

That’s why I don’t leave home without the Banner of Swiftness. That extra movement can make all the difference between two rounds of fire (or more!) or only one.

If only there was more than one way to get them moving quicker - enchanted roller skates for example. lol

Hashut’s Blessing:

Grimbold - I think you’ve been swindled, matey! Most blackpowder weapons are Move or Shoot and not Quick to Fire.

In fact,t he only blackpowders that spring to mind that ARE Quick to Fire are Braces of Pistols (and I think Pistols).

Grimbold Blackhammer:

Wouldn’t be the first time…
