Just had to go through this thread again to refresh my memory. I do really like how you’ve done things.
And cats can be buggers. Mine drinks my paint water too and if it is too low to get his face in the jar he tips it over

I do really like how you've done things. Thanks very much! :cheers I'm still hoping to get some games & battle reports in before the year's end, real life has been kicking my butt lately but I'm getting back on track! After the next Shadespire gang it's time to start planning a table :hashut

@Boyfights: Regarding Shadespire, I ran the undead crew vs Orks. Got smashed and crushed. I was my first game however and the Orks och Sigmarites would have been a better start I guess. Only played it a handfull times though, but I enjoy it. Haven’t really had much time to play it lately since there are always other games taking priority. Mostly Blood Bowl, KoW and some AoS lately as well.
Regarding cats, they can be as fun as annoying some times. Used to have a Devon Rex, more of a monkey than a cat. Fav place was on my shoulder so he cloud have the best view of whatever I was up to.

Finished up warband #4, Ironskull’s Boyz!
gahhh I missed a few silver details, back into the pits with you!
Kinda wish I had taken pictures before varnishing as that seemed to make it more difficult to get good shots, especially with the grey weather we’ve been having. Something to remember for next time I guess!
Next up: Spiteclaw’s Swarm!
Admiral:
Looks good! I cannot help but think some tiny red detail would make the second to last one pop.

That guy definitely needs some touch up work, I can count at least three rings that I somehow completely missed! I forget the name of the clan I was going for but it called for white checkers in places; I'm tempted to go back and give that a shot, but these models have a lot less smooth plates than the regular orruks and I'm not sure how confident I am in freehanding over the cracks :\

Photo from the 15mm Fantasy FB group. This might be a good solution for you, think they are “warbases” but Im sure there are similar available in North America as well…

It’s been a while! I had some health issues late last year (nothing too serious and all clear now!) that kept me from getting much done in terms of modelling, followed by a foray into solo board gaming that is still eating up a good chunk of my spare time. I’ve been slowly chipping away at things though, and it’s time to do an update
First up, the bandits:
These will likely act as enemies rather than a warband, although if I change my mind there are enough hero types to make them work for either regular Frostgrave or Ghost Archipelago. I have been looking a lot at the Rangers of Shadow Deep book by the Frostgrave author as well, which adapts the rules framework to a solo-friendly RPG/minis game hybrid that should be easy enough to slot some more appropriate factions into and I’m sure these guys would see a lot of use there.
Second, some vanilla orcs:
Now dat’s a proppa warband!! Who wants ta be a dumb humie anyway.
That’s it for 15mm so far, but my ogres are primed and ready for action and should be making an appearance soon! I’ve also finished up the last four Shadespire warbands, but imgur decided to die on me halfway through making this post so expect a big image dump tomorrow probably :hat off

Flesh for our axes, meat for our hammers!
Looks good! Are they Splintered Light Miniatures?
Admiral:
Nice to have you back! Good painting. I like the green and blue combo.
boyfights:
Thanks to both of you! It’s nice to be back finally
@tjub Yup! I need to go through my stuff again to take inventory but I believe they were the last two SL groups I had, just a few treasure tokens left to do now. I really want their ratmen models too but an order of less than ~$100 just isn’t worth it with the shipping costs to Canada so I think it’ll be a while
@Admiral Thanks! I liked the way the green and blue came out on my Underworlds guys and I’m running out of unique colours for my warbands so I just copied the recipe Time to order paint too I guess!
Imgur seems to be cooperating again so have more pictures!
The Chosen Axes:
Spiteclaw’s Swarm:
Last two tonight or tomorrow!
Admiral:
Great progress! Looks neat. Keep it up.
Uther the unhinged:
Oooooh they do look nice. Those fyreslayers particularly are gorgeous. I love the two tone mohicans.
Gargolock:
Those Skaven eyes are terrifying. Really suits them, great job keep it up.
boyfights:
Thanks everybody! Got my last two uploaded:
The Farstriders:
and finally (of the Shadespire gangs, that is), Magore’s Fiends:
(good boy)
That’s all eight! Outside of extra things like dice and promo cards that I don’t care about, the Shadespire wave is 100% collected and painted!
I had planned to jump on my ogres next but while I was getting my pictures of these guys my wife asked when we would get to use the first four Nightvault gangs that I purchased as they came out so I have to go with the project that’s going to get me more playtime We have actually been playing fairly regularly which has been an unexpected bonus! Something of a double-edged sword in terms of sending me down the board gaming rabbit hole and further splitting my attention, but a good tradeoff I think :cheers
Thorns of the Briar Queen coming soon!
Uther the unhinged:
Got to love those Khorne models. Beautifully painted as usual. I really like the Farstrider colour scheme too. Mind you the hobbyist in me looks at that hawk thing and all I can think of is ?~Pieces of eight! Pieces of eight!?T Arrrrrr, t?Twould make a fine parrot t?Twould.
boyfights:
Thanks Uther! My thoughts exactly, haha. I already find the Stormcast a little bit goofy looking so I figured why not push it, it gives the leader a little more pop anyway
Admiral:
Nice paintjobs! Not least on the Farstrider with hunting bird. I’m a fan of how you handled that one.
boyfights:
Thanks kindly Admiral! The Farstriders are probably my least favourite of the Shadespire gangs in terms of looks (I just can’t get into the Stormcast for some reason and the ponytails aren’t helping at all) but if I’m being objective I think they’re my best work so far. At the very least they’re fun and easy to paint, but I kind of hope GW skips over them for the next wave now that there’s a fourth one coming with Dreadfane!
Thorns of the Briar Queen complete!
edit whoops I missed a rose, another one back into the pits!
I had originally intended these to be a deep, blood red as per my wife’s request but a critical prioritizing error in my “plan colours, smoke, paint” routine led to an expectation that red wash over ivory would make dark red (???). Luckily I had been trying to think of a way to make a pink gang that wouldn’t look completely silly and the wet, glistening wash kept reminding me of raw meat and grossing me out so I had to run with meatghosts. Hit them with a flesh wash over the red and a quick ivory drybrush and for an experiment I’m pretty happy with how they came out!
I was dreading painting these for some reason and they’re not my finest work but they were a blast and took about a day to get through, I’m actually really looking forward to the banshees now
Stormsire’s Cursebreakers (I think that’s the name anyway :P) up next!
