[Archive] Brush Slave ?" the unofficial CDO painting challenge

clam:

Think, there is enough interest to try running a painting challenge here at CDO. We have had a small discussion in the Advices and Ideas sub forums here: http://www.chaos-dwarfs.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=8417&pid=143006 about it - and the idea seems to have been well received.

I?Tll put this ?~official?T announcement in here (just because it is here most people look) ?" but hereafter you?Tll find ?~us?T in the off topic-showcase - sub forum ?" till we grow big and can have our own hobby section

The concept is simple. Winners put down a challenge/a theme and give you a deadline (something like 4-6 week notice), you interpret the theme, paint something, take some pictures, and post you entry it in a dedicated thread in the off topic showcase subsection. After deadline we set up a 5 days poll. Anyone can then vote. Votes should go to the entry you think did the job best - based on challenge given and paintjob.

Rules are:

1) It has to be a miniature based entry ?" but no given numbers of miniatures, base shape/size, scale, range, genre, manufacturer etc.
2) Everything has to be painted by yourself and painted in the time period the challenge was given (or at least not shown here before)
3) Well photographed.
4) Posted before deadline. Only post one picture, though. So, if you want more angles, close ups etc. you’ll have make a collages. If you post more than one, I’ll pick one for the voting thread.
5) Winner takes it all

Simple as hell, right? Anyone can enter. No binding commitments have to be made, no limitations what so ever. Just a help to get those brushes swinging ?" and help you being even more productive.

So, this should not conflict with any current projects you are working on. You simply give it a little twist so it fits the theme/the challenge. It?Ts totally up to you to interpret the challenge. If you feel that your interpretation needs a few words ?" just add them when you submit your entry.

So what do I win?
Well, can?Tt offer you any shiny medals or such ?" but you get the right to ridicule ?" and the right to put down the next challenge. And how you do it up totally up to you. Perhaps you got a incredible good idea yourself, or perhaps you want to run a suggestion thread and even a small pool to become popular - and who knows, you might even want to pass it on to someone else. All we ask for is that you come up with a new theme within a week

First challenge is found in a semi-democratic way  and the theme can be found in the First official Brush Slave entry/wip/discussion thread here: http://www.chaos-dwarfs.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=8429

Any questions, suggestions, comments etc. - feel free to post them here.
