Hi All,
I’ve been trying to decide how to build my BSB. Now, I thought I would go with the Mask of the Furnace for the extra armor and ward save. I always prefer a magic weapon on heroes due to ethereal and a few other things. So, I go for the Warrior Bane or something cheap.
What else do people use? Do they usually take more than one Castellan? If so, what else? The Black Hammer seems really nice, but I don’t see it on many lists posted here.

Well, why are you worried abut ethereal units with your bsb? BSB should be in a giant unit of infernal guard, so I wouldnt worry about that. I usually put mask of the furnace on mine than I usually just put a shield, BSB’s are not for killing they are for Surviving, some people run them with great weapons, My prophet usually goes with my BSB also.

enchanted shield, dawnstone and black hammer. I like to give him a 2+ rerollable armour save and the black hammer of hashut. combined with ashstorm, people will think twice before charging the unit.

I run mask and shield. Killing Blow is popular out here and he is far too important to die

So far I have only done 2 builds.
Theory build which I really want to run some time.
tricksters helm and dawn stone plus a shield.
Damn near impossible to kill, but weak against anything st6 or more.
Current build which has worked very well so far (2games)
black hammer, (tomb king go dead), dragon helm, 5+ ward.
I think I will begin work some time soon on hero and lord gear list. See if I can get it sticky.
We need a permanent thread for general knowledge like over at Druchii.net. They have the Drache (sp?). Its list of things from gear to tactics to every thing.

Good against wood elves though :)

I dont think its so hard to pull off and if the unit gets charged by something scary you have the option to nuke it.enchanted shield, dawnstone and black hammer. I just don’t feel comfortable letting my BSB go without a Ward save. Too many things ignore armor…

I have been trying to build the BSB and Sorceror Prophet so that there is space enough on the BSB to take the Dagger of Malice. This way i believe the whole unit gets Hatred, at least thta is how we have been playing it at the club. Based on this my build is;
SP - Mask of Furnace, Earthing Rod 3+ 4++
BSB - Dagger of Malice, Enchanted Shield, Talisman Preservation; 2+ 4++
this also gives space on the castellan to include the ironcurse icon if i want.
I always field 30 or so Infernal Guard, deployed as horde, the BSB in one corner, the SP in the other. This way i have a stubborn hatred unit fighting in 3 ranks. I am liking it a lot to date
