Sharp:
Now, the plan for my army is to have the majority of it converted or scratch built. I dont really have the money or time to track down all the old CD models to base my conversions off, and frankly some of the older models are kinda weak anyway
But Iāve been trying to plan ahead and get a rough idea for my Bull Centaurs. The best plan Iāve come up with so far is to do Boar Centaurs based off the ork Boar Boyz with a Dwarven upper torso. Now obviously there would be a significant size difference between the Bull and boar based centaurs, but I think I like the smaller, stout dwarf like boar body and it would match up pretty well with a Dwarf torso. Plus they are still both on Calvary size bases.
Comments? Ideas? Has anyone tried this out yet?
Ghrask Dragh:
You find alot of boar centeurs in the 3rd Ed range, pushing warmachines like whirlwinds, tenderisers and juggernaughts. Ask AGPO for any more infoā!
As far as the models go I think the boar bodies definetly suit the size of the avarage dwarf torso. Iām sure someone would have used the plastic kits for a conversion somewhere, forgive me but I canāt think of any off the top of my head.
So I say go for it, canāt wait to see what you come up with.
:cheers

The wiki has the old range of GW models for reference.
Are we talking about the Generalās boar, or the old boar?
Sharp:
Just the standard Plastic Boar the orks have.
Willmark:
To be honest you would probably be spending a great deal of effort to create bull bodies from boars. The scale is good, but the proportions are all wrong IMHO. Iāve seen a few conversions of this nature and most end up being too āfatā as it were.
Xander:
I tend to agree. I am not a big fan of the boar use. Youād think some miniature company out there would make a Bull model of some kind that we could hijackā¦
Ghrask Dragh:
If you were going to use the boars I would just stick with boar centaurs. Scale and anatomy arenāt right, you would end up doind so much conversion work you may aswell start from scratch.
Sharp:
Oh, I would be basically using the boar body as is, with a Dwarf Torso as is, with Bare arms and great weapons. So my plan would be to make Boar Centaurs use Bull Centaur rules. (I dont know if I made that clear :P)
Ghrask Dragh:
That is what I thought you said (I shouldnāt be so easily swayed by those two :(, wonāt happen again :)), boar centaurs are definetly cool, so again - go for it!!
Willmark:
Sharp-Nope; it wasnāt clear hence mine and Xanderās comments.
Malificant:
the joint will be hard still, as the head of the boar is quite large, and was a larger gap than even the black orc torso filled properly.

Hmm. I'll have to check it out once I get home. I plan on sculpting that armoured skirt like Ishkur has on those Bull Centaurs he is sculpting. Hopefully that would take care of most of it.
Malificant:
it will flare out quite far and may look wierd. you will probably have to elongate the torso some, adding some width to it as you do so.
AGPO:
As Malificant has said, the proportions are difficult. If you have the time, sculpt a body from scratch. If not, your best bet is to enlarge the torso suitably.Iād recomend Miners over Dwarf warriors for the upper body. A little reposing of the bullās body wouldnāt go amiss either
Willmark:
Miners would probably work best from the [[BFSP]] set, (assuming that is what you want to use). Iamahobgoblin used them for several of his BCs in various armies he did. Check those out in the army bog section.
Sharp:
Yeah, I have a box of Warriors and a Box of miners I was going to use for the base.
Thanks for the tips guys. Iāll be sure to let you know of any progress I make!
Kera foehunter:
if your going to use a boar the new black orc torso fits perfict. im use one for a boar centaur. pluss the black orc have a lot of cool weapons
Hashutās Blessing:
I assumed you meant use a boar body as is with a dwarf body as is. As said before, this is a creature used in 3rd edition, but you can use Bull Centaur rules perfectly fine. However, as many have also said, the size difference between dwarf body and boar neck is considerable. Two options, that I can see: Turn the dwarf body so it looks like he is twisting to add extra strength to the great weapon attack or you could actually leave much of the āskirtā of the dwarf legs on and sculpt, as you/someone else said, an elongated body plate to cover the join, which may be unseemly otherwise at any rate. I have seen these conversions before and I think that they work, personally. Iād rather have a bull if possible, but itās not always possible.
Sharp:
Just quickly holding the parts together, the Skirt of a Dwarf Miner covers up the hole for the boarās head almost perfectly. That will give me the base I need to sculpt over. Iām not strong enough with GS to sculpt anything from scratch, but I should be able to sculpt layered armored plates for the skirt.
Basically, all looks well for this project. Iāll have to try and find some time to try and make a āproof-of-conceptā piece. As soon as I do, you guys will be the first to know.
Thanks!
Willmark:
Sharp search the army blogs forum. Iamahobgoblin used miners and bull centaur bodies to make his. Probably will be beneficial to do so. He already solved how to do it so it shouldnāt be much of a leap to convert them to boars.
