Just a thought I had regarding Chaos Dwarf armour and attire.
One thing I’d love to see more of in Chaos Dwarf imagery is braziers on helmets. If you look back at the Mordheim imagery for Witch Hunters, several illustrations have humans with braziers of flame on their heads. Mordheim is set in the past ages of the Warhammer World, and it seems to have fallen out of style (can’t imagine why…).
If anybody can bring this look back (and should), it’s Chaos Dwarfs. They just love fire in all its forms, and would have the most heat-resistant building materials from ages of experience. A unit of Obsidian Guard with stovepipe hats with gouts of flame shooting out the top would be a fantastic looking unit. Even without the big hat, the image has a lot of potential. The Obsidian Guard cause fear, and I’d certainly be afraid of a wall of four foot tall killing machines that had spouts of flame from their heads.
It is a cool idea, and certainly would fit the theme.
The mordheim imagery is curious really, it’s like a deeper look into the grim darkness than you see anywhere else in regular army books. Probably down to Blanche. If he and Adrian Smith did the artwork for WA:CD (and not that loose DoC style, his old mordheim style), it would be the most awesome book ever.
I still find the art from Mordheim some of my favorite from all GW’s publications. It’s twisted fantasy at its best, and really drives home theme of “somethin’ ain’t right” in the setting.
My blunderbuss unit champ has a burning hat. The idea was to allow the Ogre Leadbelchers who will act as filler in the unit can light their fuses from his hat. If I can find the time to photograph the champ, I will post him.
I second that motion. After looking at your army blog, I’m excited to see your Blunderbuss/Anihillator Champion! Love the idea of a big, dumb ogre using a Chaos Dwarf as a lighter…
I’ll see what I can do, but I generally flunk responsibility, even for christmas. Also, the model didn’t turn out very well, so once more, don’t get your hopes up.
