[Archive] Campaign in the Zorn Uzkul Plain

Zorn:

Hi guys,

I am conducting a campaign for my gamer group. I think it could interest some of you just for playing or for creating new campaigns.

The rules of the campaign can be found here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4niAf8yUSIrRXJEQUxfUFRZZ0U/edit?usp=sharing

and the campaign map here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4niAf8yUSIrMnU4bElLbDU4b1U/edit?usp=sharing

In order to improve this first draft I propose to be the campaign master to any group of players who would like to test it. The only restriction is to have a chaos dwarf army of about 2000pts and a motivated group.

Zorn :cheers

Thx for sharing!

Bloodbeard:

Thank you. We just stole - and modified some of your rules for a mini campaign among friends.

Zorn:

Great ! That is why I share. Do not hesitate to comment and to share your own interpretation and adaptive rules.

Great thanks, Ive been thinking about a CD campaign for a long time but never got around to start. Not much spare time until summer but, definitely a good place to start then! Thanks for sharing and please keep posting ideas and updates!

Bloodbeard:

We’ll keep it super simple, but liked your XP and stat ideas. But we thought the skills where too good. A lot of units/characters will fast have the opportunity to force re-rolls for opponents. That’s a really really hardcore ability! So after some tweaking, a couple of different ideas, we’ve come up with this:

4xp Renowned = Fear

8xp Blessed = magic resistance (1)

16xp Tough = regeneration(6+)

32xp Expert = Armour piercing

64xp Furious = Devastating charge

We’re still thinking of making skill trees. So that a unit can choose between different abilities on level up.

Zorn:

Ya, experience is a source of brain storming for campaign. It depends how long last the campaign, how to acquire experience and how powerful can become your veteran unit (it is heroic time!!).

I also like your ideas. That is different interpretation, less hardcore indeed.

Actually in my campaign, after 30 days (so at the middle of the campaign) no units or character earn more than 7xp … the 64xp is just a dream (lol).Players also begin only with 500pts, with more important army the experience can increase faster because battles are bigger.

In my system, a bit complex (or badly translate in english, sorry) I take in account the points of each unit (which required to mark the xp during the battle). For example, a 500pts unit (I call A) destroy a 100pts unit (called B). A earns 1xp for destroying an ennemy but also gets a -1xp because the opponent was too weak (or was not a real threat). This point reduce significantly the earn of xp of your most expensive units. Moreover, in my mind, when I did this xp table, troops can be used for long term campaign or from a campaign to another because to increase xp is very long. And this table try to mimic the evolution of a core unit (ex errant knight) to become as a special unit (Quest knigth) at 16xp and similar to a rare unit at 64xp (like grail knigth).

I also prefer skill trees, but it is definitely more complex to make and to use.
