Hi,
Having some issues moving my figures from place to place. Currently, I am just using a big plastic box from Walmart, but I really don’t like it. I would love something a with compartments for units, or a box where you could make your own compartments (so if they slide around/fall off, at least they’ll stay in their proper spot).
Anyone have a solution, or know of a container that would do what I’m looking for?
If I’m unclear let me know.

I went with a Sabol ArmyTransport
I find it’s better bang for buck compared to GW cases.
Noble Knight Games - RPGs, D&D, MtG, Board Games, Miniatures

Indeed, I should have been clearer. I have magnetic units, so having them stay ranked up on their movement trays is something I’d prefer, instead of protecting individual models. The protecting individual models seems like it would take around 15 minutes more time to set up.
A friend has suggested a large plastic container, and use plasticard (attached with a glue-gun) to the bottom to segregate it. I’m concerned of the durability of the plasticard in such a setup.
GRNDL:
It sounds like you already have what you are after in that case. Still, I’d recommend something like a Sabol army transport, but suggest the deep 3-5" deep foam. You can hollow out a movement tray sized chunk and put the entire unit in there…

I use a Sabol designs Army transport as well. I was initially after some Intersponge stuff that I heard about on “Turn Signals on a Land Raider”, but my local gaming store couldn’t order it in, and I didn’t want to buy without checking it out.
The Sabol Designs one is very similar and in practice very nice. Models are held in place very nicely in soft but firm foam that comes “pre-cut”. The foam is essentially perforated into little cubes that can be pulled apart and out of the foam tray. Once removed, they can also be replaced for different models or for “holding” models in place like straps. My only complaint is the carrying strap which feels a little weak. I wish there was a real handle on the top of the case or something, but it still works a lot better than any of the GW cases I’ve been using for years.
Here is a link for Intersponge, if you want to check them out:

beside getting a cool carrier .you can cheep magnets to put on the bottom of the figures and put sheet metal in the bottom to fit the movement stands.
Then they will not fall or slide eather.then all you need is a small flat box
Grish:
I have magnets attached to the figures, and magnetic strip attached to the movement trays; how are you suggesting to attach the movement trays to the box Kera…? That’s the exact part I’m trying to do, a way to have my movement trays not move inside the box; and even if they do move, as little as possible to prevent breakage.
Kera foehunter:
i put velcro to the movement trays and the box bottom you can turn them upside down and shake them . the draw back is it take a lot of strengh to pull the movement trays off
Grish:
Thanks everyone for all your suggestions; a number of them sound good (transport case that can accomodate movement trays and the velcro are both good, although I wonder how much height the velcro would give, but its a really good idea).
I have around 300 models or so I would be transporting, so I’ll look at what size the army case can accomodate.

Well, some may not know it, but GW cases are just double pistol cases made by a pistol case company. (with a gw plate on top). But you can usually find double pistol cases from doskocil (or others) in wal-marts or other stores.
With a large collection, especially with magnetic bases you could try one of the bow or rifle cases from wal-mart (I think 20-30 bucks?). I have had a lot of friends use the bow cases, and one with the rifle case. They come with foam, which you can cut out one side, put in a bit of metal or magnet and your bases will stick, and then it will be protected at top with foam.
Scope them out, they can be a lot easier than a big plastic box to carry around.
Cheers:cheers
Xander:
Cut a section of sheet metal and super glue it to the floor of your container. Place your magnetic units on it. Done.
That’s where my Chaos Dwarfs are heading. I will should you how I do it, in fact, I will probably make a video on this pretty soon.
