[Archive] Cass does evil dwarfs with big hats!

Cassarus:

So eventually I’ve had to fall for the call of Hashut!

I’ve been il0ve with the chaos dwarfs for many years but lack of minis, gs skills and a proper army book has keep me from it. With the new list in Tamurkhan, and after a few conversation with my friend Animerik/Gspirate I finally gave in and started building my first big hat.

I have been lurking here from time to time over the years, so some of you might recognize a thing or two (tjub).

This will be a homage thread for the Chaos dwarfs I remember from growing up, it wont be the new FW ones, the leading words will be; There must be hats, hats for Hashut!

This will also be a really slow thread as I plan to build most of the stuff myself.

But now for the fun part (a.k.a the rant is done), this week I’ve been sculpting my fist Evil stuntie, it’s based on a dwarf longbeard.

And its now went from this

to this

So I know I’m no master of green stuff, but I’m pretty proud of this little guy. I’ve been missing to work with gs and this was really fun. This won’t be a full 2k army, but maybe eventually I reach 1k. First of I will get a box of dwarf handgunners and I’ll go from there.

But back to the first little bugger, I’m just about done with him, and now I’m thinking about colors, do I go all classic color scheme with lots of red, black and metals, or do I go fro something different? Purple? I hear good thing about turquoise :stuck_out_tongue:

Thought!?!

And c&c on the little bugger would really be appreciated!

All hail Hashut!!! :hat

devlanmud:

Love the face on the axe and I’m very impressed with the neatness of your rivets.

gIL^:

very nice look forward to more!

Admiral:

Good sculpting! Snygg kaosdvärg! Turqoise would probably work well as a main colour, perhaps with red and bronze? A little advice on the scalemail, though: To get an even better result, press the scales flat after you have marked them out with your sculpting tool. Currently, they are a bit round and bulging.

tjub:

Great start!

This message was automatically appended because it was too short.

Cassarus:

Cheers guys!

Admiral: Good point, I tried to make them a bit flatter before I started painting. And I will keep it in mind for my coming dwarfs

And now it’s update time, painting has commenced :hat

Not really done yet, but hes getting there, so far mu biggest concern is the axe, not sure if I’m happy with it. What say you my fellow geek’s and wise men?

A somewhat blurry closeup of the axe.

C&C is requested :stuck_out_tongue:

Cheers!

vulcanologist:

No criticisms from this quarter! That’s a very well executed mini! Love the flames on the hat a’la Tjub! I take it this is a champion or hero of some kind judging by his extravagant hat! Look forward to seeing your rank and file!

tjub:

Hah, looks really cool! Id love to see more soon.

Admiral:

The axe is just fine, as is the rest of the miniature. Good painting.
