[Archive] CD Allies **This message was automatically appended because it was too short.**

Mivrash Faz:

Hey All,

As someone who is new to 8th edition I was wondering how Allies work. It’s my understanding that there are armies that can ally e.g. Empire and Brettonia, but each army must be led by a separate general/player.

I believe that the WoC book allows you to have up to 25% of your force as allies but they must be led by their own character.

After having looked at Bas´s big hat ogres I was inspired and would like to include some of these units into my force.

So far I have assembled the following units:

30 Infernal Guard with Fire glaives

2 Magma Cannons

1 K’daai Destroyer

I’m thinking of getting another 30 Infernal Guard with G/W

A Hellcannon or two, at least one Irondaemon.

and probably an Earthshaker and Dreadquake (I’ll probably scratchbuild these).

My question is how can I “legally” bring in some units of Ogres into my army. My theme is a gun line force as I’d like to use alot of artillery, so the ogres would probably lead belchers and such.

If this question has been asked and answered elsewhere please direct me to the appropriate link. Thanks for your help:cheers

I’m also curious, alas unless Endtimes change things you have to agree with your opponent prior to the game to play 2 armies at once, that means 25% core etc. for both armies.

Or agree to use the Mercenary rules from triumph and Treachery.

Mivrash Faz:

I picked up the Glottkin book recently and I haven’t really looked at the rules section, focusing more on the fluff. I’ll look at it when I go home tonight.

BTW, what is this Triumph and Treachery you speak of?

It's a supplement with rules for multiplayer games and also includes rules for event cards, alternate victory point rules and mercenary rules which can be used in regular games.

Briefly put if you're using mercenaries, then each player gets 25% of the points value of the game on top of their regular army to hire mercenaries. They must be from a different book from your main army and must be lead by a character but are otherwise unrestricted. You may also take mercenaries from multiple books, but each must be lead by a character from that book.

There's more to it such as using the alternate VPs to bribe enemy mercs and stuff happening if the mercs flee.

Do both players need to bring in mercs in order to use these rules?
