Kick to the Face:

hey everyone, what up? im new to this forum, im new to Chaos Dwarfs, and im new to warhammer fantasy battle. so, firstly, I was wondering how chaos dwarfs play on the tabletop, are they often very mobile, do you just stand there and defend (like regular dwarfs) or are there some sneaky tactics like Dark elves have? I know very little about how fantasy battles are faught (I only play 40k) so please, if someone could point me to a chaos dwarf tactica, or if you could give me a brief unit rundown (strengths and weaknesses) it would really help me to decide definitively on whether or not im gonna play chaos dwarfs as my fantasy army. thanks in advance.

Kick to the Face
Welcome to CDO

- CDs are somewhat mobile with Bull Centaurs and Hobgoblin wolfboyz.
- Sneaky? Not so much which is unfortunate when we have a unit called 'Sneaky Gits"
- A far as tactics start reading some of the threads here and you will pick up many insights into how they play.

minty:

rught, the chaos dwarf army is the jack of all trades, and like that is the master of none.

We can go quite speedy with bull centaurs, wolf hobbo’s and taurus lords, but most of our realy tough stuff is slower than that.

A combined arms teory is the best way to go, fast stuff move forward and tie up opponent uber units (one turn can be vital against a unit of khorne chosen knights, or worse, blood knights (shudder)) and take out squidgy missle units/light skirmishers. After this they should hang around the back slowing down the enemy and preparign flank/rear charges

The infantry should move up during this, relying on Hobbo screens and high toughness/armour to protect them. Chaos dwarf units can handle themselves very well in a scrap.

Warmachine slike the earthshaker help you stay in control of the game, which is why they should be choice number one for usage in rare (I often ignore my own advice, it’s a flaw as I’m a halfway decent tactician) while a death rocket (they are good, you just need to be able to calculate for the scatter) can take down heavy troops that would be a pain (knightly orders, bret knights, ironbreakers)

ad of course, heros/lords to taste. Always make your general the hero, as he has the same LD as a lord but everyone always assumes a lord is the general.
