Piccolo:

OK, my question is as follows:

If I have a unit equipped with several weapons can the champion fight with a different weapon than the rest of the unit?

For example:

A black orc unit with shields. Can the unit fight with shields and chopas (for the extra save) while the champion fights with a choppa in each hand? or does he have to use the choppa and shield combination like the rest of the unit? :hat

Ancient History:

My understanding is you have to pick once for the entire unit each turn, champion included.

Hashut’s Blessing:

The whole unit has to use the same weapon combination, but there are exceptions, such as when you can give the unit champion a magical item (such as Chosen, which can have a 25pt item), in which case, they must use the magical weapon/shield if they have one…

What i understand is that they must be equiped for games purposes the same, unless alowed by the rules to be differnet. so if it says you can, they you can, if not, then not. i think WYSIWYG is alowed to be relaxed for poetic reasons for the champion, but they 'generally' fight with the same weapons as the rest of the unit.

Hashut’s Blessing:

nitro, I think he more meant if they have multiple weapons (such as hand weapon, shield and great weapon), would the champion be allowed to use a different weapon set to the unit (e.g. unit uses hand weapon and shield and the champion uses great weapon), in which case, he cannot. However, if he has a magical weapon (or shield), then he must use that instead of mundane weapons (he can use it with a shield if it’s a hand weapon. If it’s a shield, he must use the same type of single-handed weapon as any other member of the unit
