Hmm, indeed all about different styles I guess. Do you water down normal paints or do you paint straight out of the bottle?

Hashut’s Blessing:
Straight out of the pot, but the newer ones seem to have already been thinned, which I hate with a pure fury fit for the fires of Hashut himself, he he he.
Kera foehunter:
i water down the paints ! if you open the paint us it alot it start to get thick.
i try to get it like milk thin and flowing
Obsidian:
I thin my paints too, sometimes alot. It’s easier (for me) to get a smooth even result with several thinned down layers than one thicker layer straight out of the pot. Especially if you blend the colours like I do in more stages. For example, on my character minis some colours take about 6 to 10 stages.
Kera foehunter:
i also like thin many layers of paint.
Hashut’s Blessing:
I prefer to get it down in one coat. As soon as they become gloopy or too thick, I water them down slightly.
I think this has a lot to do with my lack of wanting to paint and how quickly it can bore me, I just want it done, sort of thing. Also, I hate it when a thin paint gets slightly covered by, say, black and then you have to do 6 or 7 coats to reapply it and possibly get some of that paint on the black or whatever for me, it’s gotta be quick and easy.
wallacer:
I prefer to get it down in one coat.Me too. Not so much because I think it produces a better result, but when time is an issue it's just more efficient to get it done in one coat.

Hashut’s Blessing:
I find it’s easier to get it done, really. For example, I have to use 8 coats of my Burnished Gold over Chaos Black to get it consistent and it still looks, somehow, wrong…
My Desert Yellow requires 6-7 coats and I was using it as the main skin colour on my Beastmen, so i gave up and changed to Graveyard Earth. Not quite the same and it makes the models look too montone (so I will need to add some other changes to cope), but it was too long and tedious…
Obsidian:
With golds I add some scorched brown or bleached bone to get it to cover better, as on their own they don’t catch too well. (that’s got to do with the pigments in gold paints)
If you are painting over a black undercoat, some lighter colours will have problems covering well in one go. With the really difficult ones I generally paint on a coat of bleached bone or other suitable colour that covers well first. After that, the other colour will catch better and can be done in one or two layers.
Hashut’s Blessing:
Sure does Although, I can often get it to be okay in two of the colour I want anyway (or less), assuming it’s a thick enough paint.
Back on topic: when do we get more pics of this guy?
Obsidian:
Hopefully next week!
Hashut’s Blessing:
If not, there will be a slightly aggravated… no there won’t
