I’ve had an idea about penning a game called -escape from gorgoth.
Basically, it will be a Warhammer quest style game, with random ‘dungeon’ generation and a party trying to escape the clutches of the chaos dwarfs.
It would run as a campaign, 1st level missions are to scavenge armour and so forth and so only really involves hobbos. After the party has reached a certain level of ability or experience, it is able to do some stealthy hit and run skirmish type scenarios until they are ready to go for the big one - escape from the dungeon-mines of gorgoth! The focus of the game will really be in the skirmish type missions. The slaves maybe break into vaults and steal magic equipment, or skirmish against other slaves who want the treasure for their party.
If I can get together a solid enough set of rules and that, I will post them here straight away. who knows, we could even pitch the idea to the big GW and see if it could re-ignite CD interest!!
Until then, I would appreciate any feedback or ideas. If it’s a go-er, I would probably need help putting all together as well.
Let me know if you think it’s worth it guys (and kera ;-p) or is it just a waste of time and effort. Also lets throw some ideas together like a big hatted curly bearded think-porium!
is this a computer game? i'd play it...
if its a board game... i'm not so sure...

Board game, bit like warhammer quest. Just thinking of ideas at the moment. It would work really well as a computer game tho, good point! It could be done on RPG maker XP. does anyone have any experience doing this sort of thing?
Why not just run it as Warhammer Quest, since that seems to fit all your criteria? Treat is at an adventure module for that game, starting with the premise “the warriors are kidnapped by Chaos Dwarfs…”. It’d be a series of linked adventures, with appropriate enemies and encounters.

I came up with the idea while trying to tie it in to WHQ. The game mechanics are fine, but it would need a new kind of campaign structure. After all, once enslaved, the warriors wont have access to weapons at all to start with, and they should be relatively weak. I was thinking of level one missions including scavenger missions for food and water to build up strength etc.
Also, the trouble with just running it as a quest mission makes the 'sneaky' aspect un-workable as a monster event would just kill the whole party in the first couple of 'level' missions. Once the party is armed and back up to full strength, then they can just play it through as normal. I was thinking of so many exceptions to the rules that I decided it would be better for it to be a totally separate thing and borrow the mechanics from WHQ.

That would be cool! I think it would work well as a computer game.
Hm, well it sounds to me like a Warhammer Quest game + Games Master. However, if you want to make something that could be picked up and played by anyone (ie not just with the GM who knows whats going on) then you’ll definitely need some new mechanics. It could be as simple as a WQ campaign without the random event cards. I dunno how you might get stealth to work in it tho…
WHQ or fantasy roleplay. it does really just seem to me like khan! said, a normal roleplay game wit a games master there imposing a few restrictions. a whole rule-set for the sake of 1 campaign seems a bit too much for me really. it a cool idea for a campaign though.
