[Archive] Chaos Dwarf helmets from other race's heads

bigdark:

Once I cut the beards off of my BFSP Dwarfs and greenstuff their beards - I want to make some terrifying helmets for them.

I don’t have any spare bits lying around to test out size - so before I buy and make some race’s heads into Chaos Dwarf face masks…

Could anybody talk to me about problems that would arise from attaching any of these items to a dwarf body as a mask, please?

- Necron Warrior Head

- Bloodcrusher/Bloodletter Head

- Beastmen Standard Skulls (4 horned ram skull)

- Daemon Prince Head

- Orc Boyz Head

I understand that there would be some necessary trimming and cutting of the back of the heads.

Additionally - are there any other race’s face that could be converted to scary masks that I should consider?

Kera foehunter:

To me the miner would be best bet to do what your talking about.

the guy with the shield will be a lot of work . It might be easier with the plain dwarf warriors.

since you live in the states here a link where you can get thunders 27.00 free shiping

to me this will give you the ability to try different heads on dwarf body’s with the least amount of hacking and cussing

the skull pass cookie cutter figure are ok but if you want a better warrior and better converion

this is my opinion i would get the thunder box set then you can make blunderbusses too

Just my 2 cents

Da Crusha:

this is a hard one to give advice on. masks can be very difficult to apply since a mask (Head) model needs to be hollowed to fit a face or the face needs to be removed to accomidate for the mask. either way there is a lot of work on every model. greenstuff sculpting would be a must. I would imagine necron and blood letter heads to be too small as a dwarf head is already bigger than them. best advice might be to try converting one from beginning to end to see if you like the results.

also, there is the skull marauder shoulder pad bit that many people have used for chaos dwarf masks. have you seen that one yet?

I have them, they are going to be where I start for helmets.

I didn't think that they would be too small, I had thought maybe too big. That would have been a disappointing surprise. I appreciate you sparing me that.

So who else has scary heads that would be mask sized for dwarfs? I am not sold on the Warriors of Chaos helmets, they don't look right to me. Never seen on set right on the body or jive with the beards.

Side note to the Marauder shoulder bits - I really like the idea of using the 1-spiked shoulder as a face mask too. I think it would look savage for head butting. But there are no eyeholes. Should I do it anyways? Let my infantry see through their helmets with "magic?"

i know you could have just looked up how the models looked on the showcase section but i though i could just provide one here here

or you can use the chaos knight shoulder pads

or you can make a cone mask thing that i did because i ran out of shoulder pads

Goltor Lintrepide:

I’m not sold at all about making mask with face. They would look too much like … well … faces. I would say it’s better to do it with green stuff, you’ll be able to border the eyes nicely so it really looks like a mask. As for necrons head, they are definitely too small. I’m not sure about the other one you named.

WilsonUndead:

damn, necron heads would look awesome… such a shame lol

Grimstonefire:

I always thought that the Chaos Terminator heads would look cool (with the tusks filed down or chopped off). Never got around to trying it though.

WilsonUndead:

Oh I didn’t think of those… do you think the size would fit? Might hafta try that on my next batch lol

Grimstonefire:

I don’t own any to compare, so if I were you I’d ask around or hope someone here has some to take some scale photos.

bigdark:

I found another one that I really like - it is from the 40k Chaos Defiler.

I just have no idea how large the mask is.

Is there anyone who has a defiler mask and a dwarf body floating around too post a picture?

Link is a badass chaos dwarf mask - but for all I know the mask is 2x the size of the dwarf itself.

Oh please I hope someone can tell me that this will fit nicely on a dwarf. It would be terrifying!

WilsonUndead:

The defiler mask I have seen used on a minotaur body… someone on this forum made bull centaurs from it cant remember but ya…the head is big lol

Da Crusha:

@bigdark: I have that one somewhere, but can’t find it at the moment. but I can tell you these other defiler heads fit on an ogre very nicely.

Here on the right you can see the fit.

Oooooooh - then I have a friend who is going to cheese when he finds that out.

I am going to play it safe for now and just fiddle faddle with the marauder shoulders. I need to find an open bin of face bits and test them out like Legos. I think the idea has potential, but the risks from size variation are going to stall the application for now.

Stiglitz:

you can use the Empire shield emblem skull as a mask, too

theforgefather:

The skull helmet from the warriors of chaos set looks right at home on a dwarf.
