BLOOD AXE:

What would you like to see in a Chaos Dwarf Magic list??? Sure we get Metal, Fire, Death & Shadow, but thats a GW cop-out. We deserve our own unique Lore!!

Lets delve into the past Magic of Chaos Dwarves. Its in White Dwarf #163. These are just the basics of the spell, and my idea for a current substitute. You might have different or better ideas, share them!

Its especially cool that CD Sorcerers eventually turn into stone themselves!

-Doom Roar

Sorcerers head transforms into the aspect of Hashut and lets out a mighty bellow!

Enemies engaged in combat must take a Panic test or flee. Fleeing friendly units automatically rally.

No current equivalent. Guardian Light, Light Lore 8+ casting is vaguely similiar.

-Shadows of Hashut

A shadowy visage of Hashut forms & crashes forth.

In a straight 18" line everything crossed takes a S4 hit, any unit taking casulaties must take an auto Panic test.

Sounds like Fire Lore’s -Burning Head, 8+ casting.

-Magma Pool

Sorcerer melts into lava & reforms on a different part of the battlefield.

This is Like Steed of Shadows, Shadow Lore, 5+ casting.

-Eruption

The ground erupts into lava, place template, anything falling in(I test) is destroyed.

Pit of Shades, Shadow Lore, 12+ casting.

-Flaming Hide

Skin glows red hot. 4+ ward save, any enemy hitting takes an auto S3 hit.

No current equivalent.

-Ash Cloud

Cloud burns the enemies eyes, reduces WS/BS,attacks,etc by half.

This is very similiar to Light Lore’s -Dazzling Brightness 6+ casting.

-Sorcerer’s Curse

The enemy slowly turns to stone. Must roll under strength score on 2d6 or can do nothing.

No current equivalent.

-Flames of Azgorh

Breathes a blast of sorcerous flame. Template, those under are hit on 4+, S4 hit, no save.

No current equivalent.

-Lava Storm

Storm of fire & lava.Unit takes 2d6 hits wounding on 4+, no armor save.

Pretty lethal, similarto Fire Lore’s- Conflagration of Doom, 11+ casting.

Fist of Fire

The Sorcerer’s close combat attacks that hit, are auto wounded and take d3 wounds/hit.

No current equivalent.

So from this we can get a basic , current Chaos Dwarf list.(kind of…)

1- Magma Pool (Steed of Shadows) 5+ casting

2- ??? Not sure

3- Ash Cloud (Dazzling Brightness) 6+

4- Shadows of Hashut (Burning Head) 8+

5- Lava Storm (Conflagration of Doom) 11+

6- Eruption (Pit of Shades) 12+

I think the history/fluff of Chaos Dwarves is fascinating! Back to work slaves!!! I need to find more!!!

HAIL HASHUT!!!

Lord Zarkov:

Some of my ideas from a while back:

1: Fist of Fire (4+): Remains in Play The caster gains +1 attack and wounds on a 2+. Additionally his attacks count as flaming

2: Ash Cloud (7+):Remains in Play This may be cast on any enemy unit within 18", even if engaged in combat. They are at -1 M, Bs, Ws & Ld.

3: ? Unsure, I don’t think another damage spell is appropiate, but can’t think of characterful & balanced ways to adapt otehr spells

4: Shadows of Hashut (8+):

BLOOD AXE:

I was trying to find current (or close) existing equivalents for the old CD spells. I’m cautious of “Flaming Fist” because if Sorcerers have the same (or near) profile of RuneSmiths they might not want to risk them in combat much. But you never know.

Im trying to dig up some other old White Dwarfs with Chaos Dwarf fluff/history. But its tough when your slaves cant read…I guess ripping out their eyes & tongues didnt help either.

Is there a list of White Dwarfs with Chaos Dwarfs in them around? Getting that GW presents- Chaos Dwarves is next to impossible.

wallacer:

I would like Sorcerors to have the ability to use magic that involves the summoning and binding (read: slavery) of Daemons.

Uzkul Werit:

I don’t think we need one. Fire and Metal perfectly fit with the ethos of the Chaos Dwarfs.

Amy:

I rather think we should get our own magic list, for one reason, and one reason only…

…I want it all…

…ok, two reasons. The addition of magic to a CD army lets us answer an interesting question, that is, what sort of magic would a dwarf come up with?

That really is the core of who the CD’s are… (random tangent mode powers, activate! FORM OF… RANT!). We’re dwarves what have gone bad? What do dwarves do when they go bad? They use magic (oooh, very bad!) and the truck with greenskins (omfg, wtf bad)…

…and I’m… really tired. I meant to actually be going somewhere with that, but I can’t quite articulate how I want the rest of this to go… maybe tomorrow.

~Amy.

What Demons though? Khorne? it seems CD have a link to them, even the symbol is almost the same.

How cool is this.

As Chaos Dwarf Sorcerers use magic it gradually seeps into their bodies, evoking horrific change. Starting at the feet, the Sorcerer slowly turns to stone. At first his legs turn grey & solid so that he is unable to move, his followers must carry him or he has a mechanical construct to move him about.(Astragoth) The condition spreads upwards until the Sorcerer's entire body is made of stone. These Chaos Dwarf statues are lined up along the roads around the tower of Zharr-Naggrund, rank upon rank of grey statues watching the approach to the city.

I just made a deal for an old copy of "GW/White Dwarf presents -Chaos Dwarfs". Im hoping their is more fluff & background.

There is alot more fluff and background in it. It can probably all be found in the Wiki. We all kind of know about the turning to stone bit. I think this probably indicates that thier magic is mega dangerous and epicly destructive so i think tehy need to have their own lore to show this.

Lord Zarkov:

MvS (author of Liber Chaotical and Realms of Sorcery) had a really good treatise on why Chaos Dwarf Sorcerers turn stone. I’ll see if I can try and find it

Thanks. ^_^

...'k, here we go. Chaos dwarves are dwarves what've gone bad... (but even they haven't fallen far enough to work with elves, go figure)... ...but they are filled with magic and the aspects of dwarfy nature imaginable? So what's the worst thing a dwarf could do to someone? Burn of his beard o'course! Imagine! Hashut's flaming beard of doom, or mayhaps the dasdardly blokes could spike the beer! ...all very bad an' truly evil.

...Hee, ok, maybe that wasn't so serious, but I'll be back when I have more. ^_^

BLOOD AXE:

It gives the Burning Head spell an all new twist! Burning Beards! Might not work as well on those beardless Elves. :h

Chaos Dwarves deserve their own list. Im sure they’ll get one, when they get an army book.
