[Archive] Chaos Dwarf mutants in Blood Bowl

cornixt:

I’ve been reading the latest [[Blood Bowl]] living rulebook, and a lot has changed. I think I last read V3 and this is V5. Apart from the fact that so many of my suggestions are now in the rules (I was never a very active member of the BB forums so either someone listened or came up with it themselves), one significant thing is that Chaos Dwarf players can now get mutations like Chaos teams. Hobgoblins and Bull Centaurs can’t though. This was not one of my suggestions and I hadn’t even heard it was discussed.

Also, when compiling a list of the Chaos Dwarf players in Blood Bowl, I realised something. There are several players allowed on the team which don’t have official Blood Bowl models. These players are a Blunderbuss-wielding star player, a Sneaky Git star player, and Bull Centaur players. Other than conversions, the only way to represent these is with Warhammer models. Coincidentally, apart from the odd Hobgoblin model, these are the only Chaos Dwarf Warhammer models that are still available. Is it really a coincidence? Could these uses be a bigger motivation for keeping the models available than the Warhammer army? Does the guy in charge of stocking the models have a successful Chaos Dwarf Blood Bowl team?

i think you might be right there lol

i used to be pretty big into my blood bowl, but the 1 team i never played with or against was chaos dwarfs. once my army is finished i might make a new blood bowl team on the side!

I'm pretty sure there was a figure for the blunderbuss guy and there was definatley a Bull Centaur Blood Bowl player - Hthark the Unstoppable.

There has never been a blunderbuss guy, the picture they always showed was of a Warhammer blunderbuss, sometimes it was even on a square base.

Gets a bit more iffy with Hthark since he was really just an added torso to the Warhammer bull centaur parts and without those parts he wouldn’t be viable. Plus there is the issue of using star player models to represent normal big guys.

While you are correct that the Chaos Dwarves (and Minotaurs) can now get mutations, this is still a category only available to them when a double is rolled during an Advancement Roll. The Chaos and Nurgle’s Rotters teams however have this skill category standard for their players.

You’re right about the starplayers though… Zzzarg was a chaos dwarf with a bazooka, so quite likely a ‘borrowed’ model from the WHF range.
