And for the other 99.9% of the world who doesn’t play in their games room…thanks for nothing.

And for the other 99.9% of the world who doesn't play in their games room...thanks for nothing. There, there. It doesn't matter if it is relevant to you or me (it hardly is in my case, since GW don't set up tournaments or events in Sweden), as long as it is about wargames and relevant to somebody. The thread has a reason to exist. ;)

If either of my local game stores ever puts up a notice like this, I’ll pay attention. But I don’t think the majority of us plan on throwing our armies on a plane and hauling them to Warhammer World so we can play in their games room. I mean sure it’s great and all they have rules for who they let in and a reminder to behave yourself when you’re onsite but…
Discoking:
I understand that people aren’t going to go to the UK / Warhammer World just because you can use Chaos Dwarfs now…
I have never played there, don’t intend to anytime soon & wouldn’t be able to with any of my armies (GW models only).
Although I guess this could be seen as the “standard, out-of-the-box” Warhammer now(?).
Seemingly making these rules/books officially “official”.
Unless a tournament comps the use of scrolls etc, of course, I would expect to see more Wood Elf players with 3 Destroyers in tow, lol!
Hashut’s Blessing:
Surprised at all the negativity here, guys.
Yeah, it may not affect you, but it’s another step closer to us being accepted in whole. It may be miniscule progress, but it is still progress - something we’ve said has been missing a little since Tamurkhan came out.
Be pleased that someone does get to use something they love - even if it’s just to show people we’re still here.
AndyG:
I fail to see why everyone is being so negative.
While you may not play at warhammer world, (neither do I,) or enter UK GW tournaments, surely it is a good thing the game manufacturer is accepting FW material as equal in tournament gaming terms?
With any luck other event organisers will follow the example. I know for example that most UK gaming club network clubs use warriors code as a basis for organising and playing games.
Bloodbeard:
I think it’s great. Never gonna be relevant for me. But the more focus GW has on CD the better.
If a lot of people show up at turnaments with CD it’ll surely raise the chances of more releases.
I don’t really get the monster part though. Does it mean that scrolls of binding are included in every warhammer battle?
Or just that FW monsters can also be included in Storm of Magic?
Discoking:

Hashut’s Blessing:
I’m still trying to figure out how people are getting 3 Destroyers - although the points come from Special choices, the rules for Scrolls of Binding surely still count? I.E. A maximum of 2.

Grimbold Blackhammer:
Sorry, didn’t mean to be negative but more “practical”. <–really big quotes on that! Does anyone think the ETC will say “oh geeze, we’ve been doing it all wrong” and stop using their made-up rules? I don’t. I also don’t expect scrolls of binding to flood the meta. Or that tournaments that ban stuff will un-ban it all. It isn’t bad news by any means but I don’t think much will suddenly change either.
On the other hand, maybe I’m crazy and this is way huger than I expect. Time will tell I guess.
Bloodbeard:
That is by far the best and funniest Bretonia list I have ever seen - and GW doesn’t have a K’daii Destroyer model. Ha!
I of cause wouldn’t do something like this in a friendly game with the boys. We play with clean armybooks. And we always play with a beer in one hand and the Conan soundtrack on the stereo - very casual.
But when I play in tournaments I play to win. I play with strangers, and even though I’m a fairplayer, I play to win and use all the tricks I can.
So I would think that a lot of destroyers and other (allmost broken) monsters will make it into armylist. Boring - sure. Weird armylist according to the fluff - sure. Effective and game winning - sure!
Kaleb Daark:
I think we’re missing the deeper meaning here guys.
What these are saying is that our chaos dwarfs and indeed all FW monsters are a legitimate part of any army within the correct framework. It now means that they are recognised and I would not be surprised at all if there will be some sort of data slate/battlescroll to re-inforce their legitimacy when 9th comes out, particularly if they get allies rules like in 40k - which is a nigh on certainty.
What’s one of the biggest reasons regular gamers don’t go near forgeworld stuff? - beacause other than looking great, you can’t use them legitimately in gw stores or events, which has the knock on effect of some people not playing them in their social settings as it could cause argument.
When I read this, I didn’t see just as Throne of Skulls Tournament rules but as a window into how warhammer 9th might evolve. I think there will be a lot more revealed when the new website is up and running.
I think these updates are very exciting, and are pointing strongly in our favour on many levels potentially.
cornixt:
We ended up with a stupid situation where people didn’t buy it because they wouldn’t get to use it. So it was unpopular enough that people weren’t sure it was valid, which leads back into the first sentence.
Rather than GW writing it all off as “this stuff is cool but we won’t even let you use it in our places/events” we can at least be more reassured that by paying for cool models we can use them in a shop owned by the same company that made them. More people will buy them, more accepted they will become.
I understand that people aren’t going to go to the UK / Warhammer World just because you can use Chaos Dwarfs now…Those are the people you wouldn’t want to play against anyway.
